We will be broadcasting shortly. I'll share my story later about how this "almost" didn't happen. However we're be rolling at 7pm for 2 hours and then it will run again at midnight (all times central).

If you are on Myspace, peep my bulletins. I've embeded a radio player in the message so you can just click the radio player to hear Emancipation Radio live.

Yeah, I peeped that statement about "someone's" objections to the interview. Be interesting to hear that story.

Thanks for all the work you and the staff put in to make this one of the BADDEST radio stations around!

GREAT interview, Jill. thumbs up!

Sounds like Tyka still has a positive relationship with Prince, since she says he's still very protective of her. I do understand her "lil' sis" frustration--my younger sister feels that way sometimes, too!

I purchased her songs (Rock and Roll is my favorite)--I wish her the best!

or perhaps it had nothing to do with Tyka, maybe the concern was the type of questions the station would throw at her and put her in a position to answer or dodge, but he should know by now Emanicaption Radio has always been supportive and respectful. Who knows, i'm speculating.

It was an awesome interview, I've been waiting all week for this and much respect to DJ Jill and Tyka for making it happen. cool

wow as busy as he is I wonder how he or his people would know or had to be advised that she was doing a phone interview confused

people are watching eek lol

I really hope Tyka decides to take her music on the roads or even just one performance and how sweet would it be if it was on her own or opening for
some one smile

yet I could understand the need for wanting to be recognized as her own person
even till this day she cannot escapse discussing her brother, or being part of a legendary music circle

My favorite part is when she talks about walking down the alley and hearing all the bands rehearsing. She's around my age so I could relate to that because real music was all around in those days. Also the part about trying to do something on your own without interference...meddlesome people can be annoying even when they mean well.

I loved the interview. She was really cool and insightful 2 her past.It seemed like the song Reflection by Prince shouldve been playing in the backgroud. And Wonder,I didnt even think of that, thats totally true...but DJ Jill is definitely not like that and was a great host,DJ,and interviewer.
Im excited 4 Tyka...she has so much going on rite now.Shes got a new album coming out and shes engaged and combining the "Black Brady Bunch" lol I hope she goes on the road, that would be awesome 2 see. cool

Very true, when she said that, it reminded me of my neighborhood in Queens, NY growing up listening to all the live bands rehearsing during the week/weekends. Some very famous musicians/artists are from either the same block or a couple of blocks from where I lived in Queens, NY like Nile Rodgers, Lucy Martin (one of the original singers from Chic) Marcus Miller, JT Lewis and then some. I like Tyka's songs "Joy" as you should never allow anyone to steal your joy and "Rock and Roll" which seems to reference the choices and paths you choose in life and I definitely like "Won't Cost A Penny"<--now that's some foot stomping, head shaking and hand clapping, waving the right hand up in the air gospel..that's the jam right there, the bass line will get you moving....so I purchased her songs. So far, the four songs she has for sale sound good. It was a good interview, very respectable.

Cool. "Joy" and "Won't Cost A Penny" and "Rock and Roll" are pretty nice tracks. "Won't Cost a Penny" is definitely my favorite out of the 3. It has that foot-stomping/hand-clapping/waving the fan and right hand in the air chu'ch sound...true blues/gospel Mavis Staples sound....you know what I mean.. wink
