I love Cat. Not only a great dancer, but a great performer (the two are not the same thing). Judging by what we heard on the two Prince tours she also had a pretty good voice. Her rap on Alphabet Street was great, and what she brought to Prince's show was irreplaceable. Mayte and Diamond and Pearl were just not on the same level.

Cat never impressed me with her dancing , but I think she brought something to the shows in 87/88 . I remember reading she had the choice of touring with Prince or doing the cheography on David Bowie's 'Glass Spider 'tour...No contest!!

This thread has died a painful death which means I can say with confidence, the org is populated with philistines and fools. Cat is by far the best dancer Prince ever worked with and someone who added tremendously to the greatest stage shows of his career. And yet when you're asked to show some love, it turns out you ain't got no love to show. Meanwhile you morons cream your pants over non-entities like Vanity and Mayte. I can't help thinking if Cat was white (or looked less black) y'all would never stop talking about her. You'd set up websites for her and petition record companies to sign her up, but for some reason you have no respect. It seems Prince fans are a much more prejudiced bunch than I thought. No-one who's seen Sign O The Times could possibly rank Diamond & Pearl, Mayte, or Carmen as being in the same universe as her talent-wise and yet you fools seem much more interested in them than in Cat. That is a sad reflection on all of you.

Babe, just because this thread died a death is no indication what-so-eva of any orgers racial predjudices or lack of intellect. But u are entitled to your 'opinion'

It might help for you not to take stuff so PERSONAL Call a friend and ask for a hug or sumink you sound like you could do with one.

Almost every thread in AA&P dies a painful death. There are only like 10 people who post here regularly and they can't post in everything all the time. And sometimes threads dissolve just because it would be a bunch of people saying "I love her!" or "I don't!" over and over again.

And the thing about Cat being black--you're just baiting people to get them to post right? Fair enough.

No, not at all. I've thought this for a long time based on reading the comments of people in this forum over the years. She never seems to get her due, and the only explanation that makes any sense to me is that there is a certain preference some have for less black-looking women. Given how massively Cat's talents dwarf those of other Prince dancers, and the fact that she was there for his most iconic, and most revered period, I can think of no other reason why she is so undervalued by people on this website.

I recall people discussing the mystery of what happened to her, but beyond that, she doesn't get anywhere near the same attention as Vanity, Mayte, or Jill Jones. I like Jill, but Mayte is a non-entity who is inexplicably ranked above Cat by many orgers. There is only one explanation I can think of for that. I won't call it racial prejudice. I'll just call it racial preference. Everyone has preferences I guess, but that should never get in the way of appreciating someone's talent. Cat is nowhere near fully appreciated on this website.

Maybe you're right, but that's still no reason to call people names wink Nobody is a "moron" or a "fool" if they don't like Cat.Name-calling is for kids.We can have a discussion without disrespecting people.
