Angel Jackson & Vanity 6

Whilst reading through a devoted Vanity yahoo group, I came across two subjects that seem pretty intriguing to say the the least.

First up, there's Angel Jackson. Allegedly, she was the best friend of Vanity/Apollonia alumni Susan Moonsie. It was said around the age of 15, she was a runaway from home, has previously done work as a hooker, and along with Sue Ann Cardwell and Susan, were to have been in the first incarnation of what would've been known as Vagina and The Hookers. A solo deal was also promised, but that was quickly put to a halt with Angel's mother coming into the picture and threatening legal action of some sorts. Her normal, everyday image was said to be that of lingerie-lace apparel, which could've served as the inspiration for the aforementioned group.

In regards to Vanity 6, their second LP was rumored to have a lead-off single by the name of "Give Me Some Music To Shake My Rump" which would finally feature Susan breakaway from her narrative chants sing, along with Vanity and Brenda all sharing leads. It was mentioned as being a mix between both "Nasty Girl" and "If A Girl Answers, Don't Hang Up" (pure funkiness) with Susan and Morris Day exchanging words in a phone conversation somewhere in the song. The allegee claimed to have a pressing of this track, but it was sadly lost in a house fire.

Being the Prince associated fanatic that I am, both rumored projects are very intriguing to me to say the least. While I by no means doubt the author of these allegations because of their truthfulness in regards to other topics, I'm itching to know if anyone else has insight about these potentials.

hmmm Never heard of Angel Jackson.I do know that,in 1981,when Prince was planning a girls group,he recruited his assistant Jamie Shoop to be the lead singer. This was before Deniece Mathews (Vanity) arrived on the scene.Jamie agreed to do it at first, then changed her mind.

I don't know if Sue Ann Carwell was ever considered for the group. She released her own solo album in the summer of 81,featuring the single "Let Me Let You Rock Me".In a late-80s interview, she bitterly complained that the Vanity 6 concept and look was her idea.

Wow, interesting. I wouldn't mind reading or hearing that interview.

I WOULDN'T DOUBT IT.....EVERYONE IN MPLS CIRCLES ONE TIME OR ANOTHER HAS SAID THAT PRINCE HAS "BORROWED" A LOTTA SH*T & MADE IT HIS OWN!!!!!
EVEN THE "TRADEMARK" YELP AT THE BEGINNING OF "SEXUALITY" WAS A DIRECT RIP OFF OF BETTY DAVIS' "DEDICATED TO THE PRESS"!!!!!
