They have both made important contributions. I love that sound from the 1999 era and Time records so much. To me Prince was at his best with Dez. Prince lost all his street cred once he made the Around The World and Parade albums. Yet, personaly I love those records and they would not be the same without Wendy. I couldn't choose one over the other. That's like saying which Temptation can you do without Eddie Kendricks or David Ruffin? It's no sense in trying, they are both hardcore artists!

Dez by a million miles. Prince never made far out artsy/fartsy music until Wendy joined the group. The music was a lot harder during the Dez years.

Yeah, I've also heard that he contributed to The Time's first album. Also, his mere presense was a good influence on Prince. Andre's presense also.

Wendy. This is sort of a mean thread. I don't want to Knock Dez, but The Revolution was a goddamn POWERFUL band. Like, the greatest band I can think of. Every member had a really distinct personality music-wise and vibe wise. It was really engaging to witness. 1999 is my favorite Prince record, but The Revolution is my Favorite Prince band. They had such a CHEMISTRY about them, and I think that had alot to do with Wendy. Dez obviously had great skill, but...You can't fuck with The Revolution. You just can't.

Being as I was born in '86 I have to say Wendy because I saw all the ATWID and Purple Rain stuff before the NPG or the 1999 era. I always identified with Wendy because she was a girl who could rock your ass off one minute and then play and sing with such passion and emotion it brought tears to your eyes. My vote is for Wendy.

But Wendy was very nice to look at a sexy presence onstage with Prince.
