I'm currently reading Nikki Sixx's The Heroin Diaries and found an interesting journal entry. The first part is his journal entry and the part in red was his afterthought 20 years later. I've also included Vani, er, Evangelist Denise Matthews afterthought.

February 15, 1987 Van Nuys, 2:15PM

What the fuck was that about? Even by Vanity's standards, last night was insane. When I called her she didn't want to come over, and invited me to her place instead. I soon found out why when I got there. She'd been smokin' coke for hours and looked pretty fucked, so I thought I'd join in.

Vanity was doing her crazy art shit and we ended up doing base all night, then when it got light out she told me she felt hungry. That seemed weird because nobody gets hungry on coke but I said OK, and drove out to get bacon and eggs and orange juice. Then when I got back 10 minutes later, the guards wouldn't let me in the gate to her complex....they said she wasn't there. I was telling them fuck you when two black guys drove out in a Cadillac...that was weird...there are no black people there besides Vanity. She drove out 10 minutes later and I chased her down in my car and asked who the black dudes were. She said they were just friends.

Weird night. She always finds a new way to mess up my head.

NIKKI: I found out later from her sister that the two guys were dealers delivering coke. One more cute thing about Vanity back then; her car license plate said HO-HO-HO. When Prince had finished with her, he'd told her "You ain't nothin' but a ho-ho-ho!" and she liked that because...she had a thing about Santa Claus. That sort of made sense in Vanityworld.

EVANGELIST DENISE MATTHEWS: I was the glutton for punishment [with Nikki] and also the punisher punishing. It wasn't easy being high all the time and relating to another human being. He could have related better with a pet rock. I won't pretend that I was always there. If our relationship had been examined by a professional at that time, his diagnosis might have read, "Intensive care is much needed for this mad, neurotic, paranoid, psychotic, disturbing relationship, with egos at large coming through the door."

I believe there is a whole phi-sod to the ph-sod of being and idol, don't you think? We take on the mysterious role of its origin. Everybody else traveled the same road so we might as well follow the drugs, the sex, trash the hotel, the crazy parties, grow your hair longer, look the part, wear the makeup and act crazy until it kills you. The rest is simple...boy meets girl, girl gets yucky, both get woozy and call it love, oh yes....sick!


She has quite a few afterthoughts in this book however most of it is gibberish like this and believe it or not, this is the most candid she speaks of her relationship with Nikki. Everything else is Jesus this, God that and how she was saved.

I had never heard the whole "ho ho ho" comment before. Thought it was kind of funny. .

I don't believe Prince would have said some shiznit like that to her!

Not to me. If you listen to all the countless people who have been able to tell stories of him, Prince is a dick.

All that really matters is that she has been saved from that life, and Prince has been saved from her.

Anyway Vanity needs a ghostwriter bad. Her thinking is so all over the place that I feel like I am going crazy when I read anything she has said or written. She writes like she is still on drugs.

No it's not in stores. And I am sure the reason is because her writing is barely understandible. She was reading from it one time years ago when she was a guest on some church-y show and you should have seen and heard her. I think they had to interrupt her because it was just getting ridiculous. It's like every third word in her sentences has to be at least 11 letters long. It was like she couldn't make up her mind between writing her memoirs or the world's longest rambling ass poem.

Yes, it is hard to believe. But sometimes when people are angry and hurt they resort to name calling. And Prince feelings were hurt when Vanity left.

I'm not sure who people are suggesting is doing the lying...Vanity or Nikki.
Nikki's wife has just done an interview with Narcissist online magazine regarding Sixx's behavior. He has a habit of calling his wives 'Ho's'. She said that his first wife Brandi was called a prostitute when they divorced. Now he is saying that Donna (D'Errico) was a call girl. He is known for his lying and expanding on stories. The guy has very serious issues...even after all this time. Just goes to show you, you can give up the drugs (drink or whatever), but your behavior can remain the same.

As for V, she does talk alot. And I would agree with the whole poetry in motion thing, when shes talking about things. But I think she always did. I get the same feeling when I listen to Quinton Tarintino sometimes!!

Vanity seems to be embarrassed about alot of her past and I think her rambling on is all about avoidance. I was shocked but pleasantly surprised that she even contributed to Sixx's fictionary tale. But I think I would be totally floored if she ever really did publish that book of hers. I think she's held off because she's not ready to tell it all. Maybe one day. But the only thing I can give to Sixx is that he LOVES to brag about his past...no matter how sordid, and when he thinks it's not sordid enough, he adds to it!

I just know that I would believe the drunk on the corner who said he saw the whole robbery before I believe anything Nikki says about ANYTHING!

I thank you for posting this article. I always wanted to know what Nikki thought of her. I am going to get the book today.

Vanity has said it herself on live tv that she slept around for money when her career was coming to and end. I heard it and read it in quotes in various magazines that she did prostitute herself. I also saw an interview she did with Joan Rivers (when she got saved) that she slept around for money to support her crack habit.
Prince wanted to call Denise Vagina as her stage name so having heard that he had called he a hoe is not suprising at all. Prince is no saint(remember his song called Sister)? So don't be alarmed. Prince has a scandolous past too. This is not news. There is a book out called Possessed and it is an unathorized Bio on Prince and his bad attitude towards his protogee's. Prince was sleeping around with Susan and many other girls while he was with Vanity. Vanity was not fired from Purple Rain: she left after she got her deal with Motown. Vanity is no fool. She planned to leave Prince and she never looked back. Prince is the one that was obsessed with her. Look at all the girls he dated after Vanity. They all have a similar look to Vanity, but they were not as beautiful as she. Many of his songs are about Vanity. Vanity has maybe two songs about Prince. One is Wild Animal and the other was Crazy Maybe about how controlling and obsessive he is.
I think that Vanity was too much for Prince. Prince couldn't control her like he wanted too. She was too strong for him and did not play his game. Now I ask would you have stayed to do Purple Rain that was not paying close to what she deserved(since the movie was about his music and his relationship with her) or get a million dollar contract with Motown that had her signed up for a four album deal? I would have left too. Stay with Prince and be used and controlled or go somewhere else where U have control.
Vanity was the star of The Last Dragon. The leading lady with her name above the title. Action Jackson:Both movies where box office hits. Her name above the title and the leading lady in that movie as well. She had a good career. I love Vanity and always will. I love Prince too.
