What are the origins of this? Where did it air before...was Prince involved or totally done with the group at this point (seems like he might be since it was from 1985 yet the whole "80s rensainssance theme he was doing and go Shelia E into isn't showing up). It's great (although the "Mr. Christan" aspect is as creepy as ever). I would love to know if anybody knows anything about this. Maybe we should move the thread.

Yeah I seen this the other day, I never knew it existed, did this barely start circulating, or has it been around and I just never noticed?

Yeah i actually never heard this was even done. And here i thought i had every rare Prince thing and associated artist clip but little did i know this was out there. Now if only someone can un-earth all the Carmen Electra videos she did for the album, not just the 3 singles, the complete video for FUN is needed and others were shot for that album. In 1984,there were plans for Apollonia 6 to film a video for every track on their album.I don't how far they got with this project, but these Youtube clips prove that alot of footage was apparently filmed and never used/released.

That would be a very good idea these days but back in 1984, I don't know why they would have done it since VCRs were so damn expensive back then that very few people could afford one. Unless they were going to do a television special or something. Andy is a four letter word.

Unless they were going to do a television special or something. Actually, Olivia did it with her "Physical" album in 1981 (82?). Don't know if that was a big seller, but I doubt it hurt the album's popularity (then again, maybe they didn't sell the video...not sure). Diana Ross had a video collection out there after only a small handful of clips..I think that was 1984? Who knows what they were thinking but I find it funny that this never aired anywhere. Could it because of their lack of popularity at the time and the way that WB tries to forget that they ever exsisted? And why is this such a mystery to even big fans? Maybe that's the answer...if Janet did something like RN1814 and didn't release it, I'm sure fans would still be talking about it, trying to get their hands on it. Considering the stunned reaction by everyone here as well as on Youtube, I assume this is the first the public is seeing of it. I could be wrong. It was posted on August 30, 2007...not all that long ago. Warners and other record companies need to wise up and realize classic videos like this could probably reach a small but interested they sold on DVD (of course, don't charge a fortune...we can see them for free on Youtube!). Am I wrong? I would buy this if it was on an Apollonia 6 collection...could getting the rights be a problem (is that the reason why so many albums like "Apollonia 6" never get a fair shake on CD or even digital download....or just plain laziness!). I'm surprised there is a video for the whole album when there was already a "Sex Shooter" video (as seen on the Purple Rain 20th anniversary DVD).

Unless they were going to do a television special or something. Olivia Newton-John's 'Physical' album had a video for every album track - and it was released on VHS and Laserdisc in 1981. It was sold to a TV Network to broadcast in 1982 but was actually produced primarily for sale and retail. Oops - I took so long pressing 'Reply' (because I was on the phone) that Vinny has also mentioned the 'Physical' album. But he's right - there was a precedence for this. [Edited 9/8/07 14:23pm]

That first part, now I know where Priscilla Queen Of The Desert took her lipsynching powers from.

I wonder why it was never finished though? The clips on YouTube are obviously film-rushes pieced together without any titles or effects. I'm guessing the blank screen at the end of Part 3 is where the end credits would appear (?).
And although the production values are endearingly cheap, time costs money - so somebody must be out of pocket, but who? It's nowhere near as amateur as that 'Hard Life' movie Prince directed in 1987. Did Warner Bros. bankroll this?

I have reason to believe these clips were posted by the director. There have been various entries about this aborted project on A6's Wikipedia page for quite sometime. Naturally, I assumed it was a hoax. The Ricky Nelson connection sounded too far fetched to be true. I've read repeatedly that Prince [thus, WB] simply lost interest in the A6 project. If this isn't definitive proof of that...I don't know what else is.

It's nowhere near as amateur as that 'Hard Life' movie Prince directed in 1987. Did Warner Bros. bankroll this? I guess it is unfinished (and without credits and probably nobody around to be able to figure out who did work on it, no chance for a physical release....as if WB could consider). You think maybe this was somebody that worked on it that released it? Yeah, I also found i weird that it didn't have credits where the credits should have been. Sorry to make this about Prince, but what is "Hard Life"? I'm watching it again....I'm a big fan and frankly, it's terrible as a whole! I mean, the songs as music videos, they are awesome (the "Sex Shooter" here is more like I imagined it and not that lame thing in the middle of a sunny day that was used for the actual video). The whole "Mr. Christan" thing was creepy as a song but but you kind of understood it and didn't think of it as so much a love letter...but here, it's a whole new level of strange! And then "the will" says "Tough titty, Apollonia"....WTF is this? The acting is beyond awful even by eighties music video standards! They would have been nuts to release it. Sounds like it was something better left for Apollonia, along with cast and crew, to play at parties and laugh at enjoy among themselves. It frankly seems like an inside joke that is kind of removed from the whole Apollonia 6 that Prince envisioned. I really doubt he had any involvement in this (or the prior real music video). Still very interesting to watch as a "sign o the times" (and again, the "videos" are fun). [Edited 9/8/07 18:53pm]
