As for this thread, I read the lyrics you quoted. They're not Shakespeare, but they're at least humourous and tongue in cheek. They're not meant to be taken seriously. Madonna's lyrics on the other hand are unintentionally hilarious because they often try to be profound and Madonna is simply not talented or intelligent enough to be able to pull it off. That "Sigmund Freud- analyse this!" line in Die Another Day, or her APPALLING rap in American Life are far more excruciating than Pretty Mess yet I never hear you call Madonna out for it. Sorry, but that is a double standard.

Those Vanity lyrics are not humorous or tongue in cheek,they're just stupid.I remember the reaction that "Pretty Mess" got in 1984 and trust me,people weren't laughing with Vanity,they were laughing at her.That's why,when she started work on her next album ('Skin On Skin',released in 1986),Motown wisely hired outside songwriters for the project.

As for my criticism of Janet....it's usually just "constructive criticism".I always point out that,if she were to try some new beats and re-invent herself,she could revive her career.Her 'sex kitten' act is getting tired.My criticisms are reasonable and many of her hardcore fans say the exact same thing.I don't think her career is over at all.You,on the other hand,mention Madonna (negatively) in nearly every thread,trying to piss off her fans.You mention her in threads that have absolutely nothing to do with her.This thread is about Vanity,so let's keep it on topic.If you wanna diss Madonna,just go to the Music:non-Prince forum,start a "I Hate Madonna" thread,and get it out your system once and for all.Would you like me to start a thread like this for you? But the thing which pisses me off about your post is that you've basically accused me of lying. I have high standards when it comes to music. I don't keep junk unless there's some major sentimental attachment, which I certainly don't have for Ray Of Light. If you actually read my comments about your beloved bloodsucker, you'd see I say very little about her recent career because I don't know much about it. All I do know is her music nowadays is shit. I don't need to buy the albums to know that, because unfortunately her music is everywhere, just like bacteria and air pollution. You can't avoid them even if you want to.
