John Blackwell Playing Drums For Justin Timberlake?

Is that who I see (john blackwell) playing drums for Justin Timberlakes HBO concert?

Unfortunately, yes, it is. I guess John needed to pay some bills even if his talents are sorely wasted on this tour. Also, Reverend Mike Scott is on guitar.

sad

Is there an official reason Blackwell isn't playing with Prince anymore?

On the tour or HBO special you will notice how much more music there is than on the recordings. John's playing was far from "wasted" on this tour. Whomever he plays with, he contributes solid and creative musicianship. Justin very clearly strayed from the simplistic recordings and let his band carry it out with their expertise. The songs were fuller and brighter and more complex than on the albums.

As most professional musicians know, there will be new songs, new players, and new gigs. As long as they get to play, that's all that matters.

There is nothing wrong with Justin wanting musicians that played with Prince. Who wouldn't???

It's VERY obvious Justin respects John!

Hope Justin knows he has one of the finest drummers on board. I've seen and lawd knows heard John in concert with Prince, and John is totally off the hook headbang an answer to the group and a solid contribution to any band. One just has to listen to the music to know and feel it's Mr. Blackwell in the house. Justin has a winner with this band. I like his lyrics and music more than his voice. whistle ROCK ON JOHN boogie

That punk is one of the biggest Prince enemies out there now. He doesnt deserve a band with those guys in it. Shows you money can buy amost anytihng. He wants to be Prince so bad that he is hiring his old band.

Professional musicians get paid to play and Justin pays well. Bills have to be paid. I'm happy for them. I'd actually rather see them making more money and playing for Justin than making less money and playing for Prince. 9-to-5ers may not understand that.

His band is really good. Right now I am watching part 4 on YT and I dont understand why Justin tries so much to be Prince. Being influenced is ok, but he borrows too much from Prince in this video. Even the musicians, the Linn drums, the ´I wanna be the sexy talented musician´...I wonder if he really loves Prince that much or is trying to get his place for commercial reasons.
