The site blew up on me last night and lost my post...so glad it kept my title to make me look like a jackass.

Anywho - my question was, how much coke did Vanity actually do to get herself into such a health crisis, heart attack, kidney failure, deafness, blindness? I mean how much and how long did she abuse to get that bad. I never remember seeing any pics of her looking like someone who had hit bottom - usually they look sickly or thin. Anyways, maybe because there wasn't US Weekly back then.

But did Prince try and help her at all during that time? I think the line "two friends of mine got stuck in the snow" referred to her but who is the second person....

Just curious.

Piecing 2gether things that she's said, it's apparent that she began using cocaine in mid 1983 and stopped in 1994. As for how much she used, she calimed in a 1988 isssue of Jet that she only smoked a gram a week but I'm not buying that. You are definitly right about it not being that obvious physically; especially since she worked continuously throughout the eighties and early ninties. She must've had a really good PR team to keep the things going on in her life from the media.

Since I posted this, I did read that in the end she looked awful and covered all the mirrors in her house and wouldn't let anyone see her.

Pretty crazy story. I mean I used to party a little hard when I was younger, but she just took it to another level.

Good that she got past it. Cocaine is a helluva drug.

I Think the Story of Vanity is such a shame, It's great she has given her life to the lord now. But If she had stayed away from drugs and was given better oppurtunities, she had the potential to Become like the J.lo of her time i could definatly See her with clothing lines and perfumes and such.

This made me think of something I read the other day in Alex Hahn's Possessed book...

Also, it's interesting that Van had an affair with Albert M.
Funny though, no one seems to be asking WHO ALL PRINCE WAS HAVING AFFAIRS WITH THE ENTIRE TIME THEY WERE TOGETHER. The list was longer than one.
