Associated Artist groove of the day: "Crazay" by Jesse Johnson and Sly Stone

headbang

I don't know how Jesse did it,but he was somehow able to convince the legendary Sly Stone to appear on this song with him.

A quote from Sly regarding that song....

The last new music he recorded for commercial release came out in 1986: a duet with Jesse Johnson, of the Minneapolis group the Time, on Johnson's solo single "Crazay"—an acceptable but undistinguished slice of period shoulder-pad funk. "I don't even know what that song was about, to this day," Stone says. "I just happened to go in the studio."

It's OK but I like "She (I Can't Resist)" much better.

The "Shockadelica" album is a very good album but my favorite is Jesse's first album. It's a lot colder like the classic Minneapolis/Prince style music. My favorite Jesse Johnson track is the B Side "Free World".

The B-side to "Crazay" is "Drive Yo Cadillac." "Free World" is the B-side to "Can You help Me."

"OH" edit: You weren't saying that Free World was the B-side to Crazay - My bad.

Cool! I never saw this video. I Love this song.... though my favorite JJ song is the B-side 12" Drive Yo' Cadillac.

Btw, is that a Yamaa DX7 Sly is "playing" in the video ? (Notice it's not even plugged in!)

This was Jesse's most bad-ass tune.
