JIMMY JAM AND TERRY LEWIS

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of that special flyte tyme box set? I saw it on ebay once and I didn't move soon enough. Even if I could get a copy.I don't think I'm breaking rules here because it's not a bootleg.

There are 78 tracks over 4 cd's.EMI Publishing put it out I think for a charity auction of tiger Wood's.I have been searching for years for it. There is actually one on ebay right now for $300. I saw an interview where Jimmy Jam said it fetched like $2000 at the auction. They put together a second half of this, but it hasn't been released. This set covers "82-'95.There are tracks on here I've never even heard. These guys are the architects of modern pop/r&b. I really forgot how many great pop songs they have made. Theye were the best producers of New Edition. All the classics are here except they skimped on the Pandemonium material;"jerk out" is the only song included. They couldn't put everything on there. They pulled 78 songs out of 500!

Man, I dunno about that set being auctioned on ebay. Something about that offering just screams bootleg. Any idea on how many copies of this boxed set were produced or any tips on how'd you be able to spot a legitimate set? I'd be really p.o.'d if I laid out that much bread for a bootlegged copy.

I have the single for the Patti Austin tune. Jam & Lewis are credited as the writer/producers for the track. On the other hand, this is the first time I've read anything about their involvement with the Robert Palmer cover of "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On". Didn't Bernard Edwards produce the album that yielded that single? (Riptide)

Eh... I'm well aware that they penned the tune. I know that Cherelle recorded it first. That's not the point. My comment was in respect to a cover version of one of their songs being featured on this compilation if they didn't produce the track. Anyway.....

Yeah my thoughts exactly. His version sounds so ..... UN Jam & Lewis!!!

On a related topic, Mariah covers it on Glitter. and it's actually really good.

But the music tracksk sound ALMOST EXACTLY like CHerrelle's version, that I wonder if they even re-recorded it or just used the old master tracks and Mariah sang over it. Anyone know for sure?

thanks for posting the track list Rock.

i must admit the enthusiasm is diminished now. it should've been a more diverse list. didn't they do Optimistic for Sounds of Blackness and stuff like U Got It Bad by Usher?

i have all the Janet and NE joints and the SOS, Cherelle, Alexander ONeil joints too if i dig thru some old vinyl.

if i were to ever see a real set, i'd only copy it for nostalgia/collectors' purposes
