Disappointed fans of SW Louisiana... Crowd says they want their money back
Juneteenth Concert is Canceled, Fans Say They Were Cheated June 25, 2007 12:00 AM CDT It was supposed to be a concert celebrating freedom and unity, but now those who were there say they are united in anger. The concert featuring Slick Rick and Morris Day and the Time for this year's Juneteenth Freedom Festival was supposed to start at 3:30 p.m., but the concert never happened. When 9NEWS tried to speak with the promoters, The Hills' Boys, they just said "No comment" and shut the door leading back to the artists. Just moments before, angry crowds at the F.G. Clark Activity Center heard one of the promoters tell people they would be given tickets and a phone number so they could get refunds. Tickets sold for at least $30 each. The promoters never shared that phone number with 9NEWS. As you would expect, folks here were quite upset and used strong language to express their feelings. "I don't understand what was going on. They cancelled the concert. It wasn't a concert. They done called everyone (the "n" word)," one woman said. "This ticket is worth $55. That's what I paid for it, and I want my money back," a concertgoer said. Q106.5 FM and Citidel Broadcasting were sponsors of the event. The page on their website promoting the event has been taken down. A company official apologized for what happened, but says they're in the same boat as the fans. The sound crew says the Hills' Boys have yet to pay them, and folks working security said the same thing. Reporter: Avery Davidson, WAFB 9NEWS Well, I actually was there and it was worst than this...All the artists were there but still at their hotel. Believe me, they were ready and dressed and waiting to go but they were very disappointed but they were ok with it...I hope the town of Baton Rouge sues the pants off of these "promoters"...They didn't even pay the sound guys or the artists all of their money. OH Well! This is the third time different promoters did this to the Time and they vowed that they will never come back to that area unless everything is legit 100%...It's gonna take a lot for these guys to come back there. Oh well, I'll just drive 4 hours to see them in Houston...But it was sooo good to see everyone...It's been over 7 years since I've seen my friends but they were all glad to see me and my mom! I first met Morris and the Time when I was 19 years old -10 years ago. They were glad to see the "grown up" me...LOL! Those fellas are definately still kool and still are our friends -here's to more years feeling like family! Why isn't anyone commenting? [Edited 6/26/07 9:51am] Um... let me warm up my vocals

That is a bummer. Sounds like the Hills' Boys ran off with all the money. When are The Time coming to Houston?

[Edited 6/26/07 9:51am] Well I wrote up my own take on the situation, but didn't post it on here. its currently on my myspace page. We drove 5 hours for that show so we were very disappointed that the show was called off(we were backstage when it happened and hauled ass as it looked like a riot was going to start), BUT we did have a great Time visiting with the fellas
