Dance Party Princess

Does anyone remember the American Bandstand-inspired tv show, "Dance Party USA," which aired on the USA Network from 1986-1992? I was really young back then, but I can still remember watching it every frickin' day--without fail--after school! My favorite regular on the show was a gorgeous blonde who called herself "Princess;" her trademark was a small, glittery "tear" decal which she wore below her eye. She claimed she wouldn't remove the tear until the day she met Prince in person!

love Does anyone else here remember Princess and "Dance Party USA?" love

omg...I was just talking about this last Saturday with some other Prince fans. I didn't have cable, but my friend did and I would watch when I went to her house. I totally remember!

How annoying must that be to have to wear that tear for over 20 years. I wonder if it makes getting a boyfriend difficult.

She only had to wear it for eight years, because she met Prince / prince in 1994.

I wonder if it makes getting a boyfriend difficult.

Actually, no! She is currently a happily-married mother living in Philadelphia.

WoW! I always wondered if Princess ever met Prince. I'd love to hear that story!

Kelly Ripa used to be on Dance Party USA. I used to watch that show every day after school!!! I even taped some and still have the tapes in my garage.

Side question: Does anyone remember the Good Girls? They were a cute trio of girls that used to "perform" on Dance Party USA. One of their songs was "Your Sweetness (Is My Weakness). What are they up to?

Glad to see that Princess and her show are not forgotten! Man, that show was a must-see for me from age 7-12. Ah, the memories! I'd LOVE to see some sort of DVD release: in fact, they have been working on it, but it's proving to be near impossible to buy the rights to all the songs that were played on the show! Man, I'd love to see some of the VHS tapes you guys have! giggle

There is a website and a discussion group for fans and ulumni of Dance Party USA...I'd post links, but I'm not sure if that's allowed. Send me an orgNote if you want 'em!
