That's a bit of a reach because by that logic, Janet is a Prince protege'. eek

and I disagree with that.

Consider this... Cherelle, NEVER recorded with Prince... NEVER performed with Prince, NEVER had a song written for her by Prince... NEVER recorded at Paisley Park.
How do you figure she was from Prince's camp?? She probably never even met Prince.

rolleyes

Wasn't Alex O'neal supposed ta be the original lead singer of the Time before his habit put his career on hold for a few yrs?...And Cherelle was a sidekick that EVERYONE connected to the Minn sound KNEW could really sing but she had a habit too? Paisley Park??..C'mon man I'm talkin' waaaay before '85 mane...look it up..check it out....

No, he left The Time because he didn't want to take orders from P and he didn't want to be molded into P's alter ego which Morris was very ok to do.

nod

Oneal's substance abuse problem didn't start until after he hit it big with Jam and Lewis.

and it is not clear to me if Oneal's problem was drug or alcohol.

Alex was originally slated to be the front man of the Time before Morris Day got the job.Hence,Prince's psuedenemn of "Alexander Nevermind".

That i already know, but how can people say he was in the Prince camp when he never recorded for Prince or went on tour with Prince. Alexander O'neal made his fame by being with Jam and Lewis.

Would you consider Sonny T as part of the Prince camp when he tried out for the band after Andre left. and BrownMark got the gig. No, you wouldn't consider him as bing in the camp because he wasn't in the band back then. He didn't make the Prince camp until late 90 or early 91 after Miko left the group. So come on people, Alexander left the group, even before any vocal were put on tape. So in my book He never was in P's camp

Whoah really? Can that be proven that that's actually where that pseudonym came from?
