It's obvious by my name and avatar that I love Sheila. She'll always be my favorite Prince drummer and band member. Still, does anyone else feel a little bad that Cora gets ignored at high-profile gigs while Sheila gets all the love and attention? Don't get me wrong, Sheila's earned it. But I kinda wonder if any casual Prince fans (people who aren't as obsessed as us) even know who Cora is. Anyone else?

Sheila's my fave Prince drummer of all time! I don't feel bad 4 Cora,I just feel she doesn't belong there!

I think she's good, even great. But I was just wondering how she felt about her "role" in Prince's band and among his fans. All Prince's drummers have gained a certain amount of status among fans (with I guess the exception of Kirky J) and anytime Sheila's playing, she gets a special callout--actually more than that; she gets a spotlight. And deservedly so. But Cora doesn't get anything close to that.

I know what you mean but he's done it several times at the Vegas concerts and aftershows, just not on TV cuz Sheila has been at most of those. But if you think about it, in his TV performances he hasn't called out anybody EXCEPT for Sheila. So I don't think it's a reflection on Cora. Either way, I bet she could care less cuz she's backing the greatest performer alive, seeing the world, getting paid and all this with her husband by her side to share the ride.

I met Cora while we were walking from the parking lot to the NAMM show a few years ago. She had just won the Guitar Center Drum thingamajig whatever. I always give women major props who could win that - in fact, I give ANYONE with some talent who can actually come out on top of Guitar Center judging anything considering they pull their judges off the street--but that's another story. She's nice and I almost got her to play with my band, but Zak Harmon. I honestly don't think Cora's boo hooing in her dressing room. She's probably just happy to have a paying gig and some status now. She won't ever hurt for work.

Co-sign. That will always be true for me. I have to admit, I didn't like Cora at all at first, and it was simply because she's a woman. Not that I'm sexist, but I honestly had this crazy feeling like Sheila is the only female drummer Prince could have. I didn't want to admit that, but there, I said it. But I'm over it now.
