Who was the bigger influence on P's playing?

Who is the "better" ( read...favorite ) guitarist?

Love 'em both, but Jesse is my favorite of 'em all. He was just as consistent live as he was in the studio. To me, his playing was just a lot tighter, especially live. I would've loved to hear Jesse play the solos on the live versions of "I Feel For You" and "Lady Cab Driver".

I dig Dez's playing on "One Man", moreso than when he was with P.

Both of 'em were cool as hell, though.

I always thought p had more of a santana sound than hendrix, although Im sure he was influenced by hendrix. Jesse on the other hand is definitely hendrix style with his own flavor. He did some killer solos on Tamara and the Seens Blueberry Gossip album.I think of Dez as more of a Rythm player and songwriter.Im sure he can play some lead guitar though. By the way where is that new album Jesse.

I suggest you get ahold of some of Prince's live stuff - Dez is all over it with his lead guitar playing. Maybe you have him confused with Wendy...

Yeah, I ran a thread just about the intro awhile back. Of course P can play it, since he recorded it. I can play the intro and solo. The wicked thing is, "parts" of the intro is backwards.

Thank u Ala. At least someone is! This is the thing that makes P "sick". The intro lead is basically a minor penatonic run. You can play the phrase "normal" but right in the middle of the burst of notes, that's where P slipped in a small section that's recorded in reverse. He just edited that part in and then it's yanked out and it goes back into a "normal" lead. Right at the part where his vocals are on top doing the "0wwwweeowwweeoww" and his playing a two note repeat thing ala the intro to Purple Haze.

I'd love to hear u play this Blackguitaristz. You are obviously talented on the guitar and u know your shit. Are u ever gonna throe anything up for us... how about just some prince licks or solo's for us to drool over.
