Gaines. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

Boni...ain't nobody can mess with that girl. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Boni (RIP).
Her voice was more soulful and poweful IMO. Watch the SOTT movie during Forever In My Life. She goes off!!! She was in Sheila's band before with Levi and Miko.

i didn't know Boni passed away (i'm new to the org, and it definitely didn't get ink in the mainstream press). Boni doesn't have a D & P that solidfies her on wax, but maybe her "live" moments surpassed rosie. hard to pick one.

Unfortunately, she passed away a few years ago. I don't remember the year. I think I learned about it on here. I couldn't ind the thread now. you're right about Boni not having a "signature" recording on wax. She's not on SOTT the album, but you can hear on the Black album and Alphabet street but no real solos to my recollection (At one point on Le Grind, Boni starts to wail and Prince goes...."not now Boni!". But SOTT movie performance of FIML is really the great showcase for her.

Boni.
She's so much sunnier and pleasant. Nice demeanor. Rosie looks terrified on stage, like she's gonna burst out in tears.

She had a great life This is what I found. Bonita Louisa "Boni" Boyer (July 28, 1958 -December 4, 1996)
(Singer and musician) Boyer contributed back-up vocals and played a wide variety of instruments for Lionel Ritchie, Tony! Toni! Tone'!, Con Funk Shun, and Digital Underground. She was perhaps best known for her work with Prince on the "Sign O' the Times," "Lovesexy," and "Graffiti Bridge" albums and related concert tours. A fellow classmate of Sheila E., Boyer was replaced in Prince's band with Rosie Gaines. Boyer passed away from a brain aneurysm.

Boni.
She was insane live. ...I was blessed to catch her at a Prince Lovesexy aftershow in SF at the Warfield. ...Following that she showed up one night at the Broadway in Sacramento and hi-jacked a show with Raphael Saadiq. They ripped it off the hinges. I have been told there is a DAT of that Broadway show. If any of you know "Ray" - ask him about it. I attended her memorial benefit at Geoffrey's Inner Circle in Oakland. The Tonie's performed an unforgettable tribute to her. B.
