Atlanta Bliss' name I would have been satisfied with "Matt Blistan" - that's a pretty cool name in itself. "Atlanta Bliss", however, is somehow even more cool; manages to lose that small-time-session-musician-who-also-plays-in-a-really-smug-acid-jazz-band-at-weekends air!
I was just wondering if anybody knew where he got the name from. It's obviously not a Prince creation (Matty B?!)...

He's in a band called After Dark playing weddings, birthdays and bar mitzvahs, isn't he? (Pardon my spelling)

I've just read in an Eric Leeds interview that just before he started working with Prince, Blistan moved to Atlanta.
I guess that solves that mystery! (Here's the interview, in case you're interested: http://www.thelastmiles.c...-leeds.php )

The name is not as offensive as you think.
As a teenager, we had a friend affectionately called "Black" Mike. He is of a very dark complexion--even his siblings referred to him by that name. Another nickname we used was “blue”. Almost everyone I know had a person of dark complexion others affectionately called "blue". http://www.myspace.com/ggernard GGD
