Which associated artist has the most superstar-status? With Prince, you know you'll always play second fiddle. But who from the Prince-camp is the most popular, has the most superstar-status?
In other words, who will actually be recognized on the streets? Could it be Mayte? Carmen, who actually made a career. Morris? Sheila? Of course, Mavis, Clinton and Madonna aren't from the Prince camp, hence don't apply. | |

Carmen Elektra managed to become a big superstar.That's kinda surprising,since most of his female proteges usually fade away after they stop working with him. | |

Suxuality (is that the right spelling) was a hit before she got in the NPG. She had her own act and wanted to do a show or opening act or something like that with Prince and he backed out in the last minute. She sent him a letter or something giving him her 2 cents about it, and to make up for his faux pas, he met with her to make amends, became impressed with her work and asked her to join in on a tour. Like Sheila E, Candy is a great musician in her own right, has performed with many other talented musicians, Prince is just one of them. Wrong, Saxuality, her debut, is from 1990, after the Holland shows and Partyman. She had her own act and wanted to do a show or opening act or something like that with Prince and he backed out in the last minute. She sent him a letter or something giving him her 2 cents about it, and to make up for his faux pas, he met with her to make amends, became impressed with her work and asked her to join in on a tour.
Correct, she didn't join the tour though, just one or two Holland shows. Anyway, my point is, Prince jumpstarted her career and she managed to keep it alive, unlike most prince-associates. [Edited 4/27/07 3:01am] | |

Although she played some TV-shows and in theaters, "Kristin's major cinematic debut came in the Prince's Under the Cherry Moon in 1986. She was originally called to try out for a minor character, but her reading of the leading lady in auditions was so compelling they offered her that part instead." [Edited 4/27/07 3:01am] and I stand corrected!! I heard of Candy as a solo artist way before I knew of her association with Prince. 
I always wondered why Candy would become a member of NPG when she had her OWN career... but I just thought she was like Patrice Rushen standing in as a favor for Prince and then decided her career was stalled and the NPG gig was fun to do.
