Whatever happened to Brenda Bennett As a kid, I was scared to death of her, lol-she looked like the tough girl in high schoolb who was in the upstairs bathroom smoking, lol, but now I am curious. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Roy ran/designed Prince's live show lighting for years. I believe he was pretty well known and respected in the live arena for his lighting expertise. He was also married to Brenda Bennett.

Brenda continued recording for a while (including work for John Palumbo-a Baltimore based musician who created a band called CRACK THE SKY), and as far as I remember, she has gotten out of the industry. I interviewed her and spent the day with her back in the 1990s, but haven't spoken to her in a long time.
She really had a kick ass voice! Yes, she and Roy divorced many years ago. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. Brenda had the best voice out of Vanity 6. Too bad that Prince didn't had the chance to really do some solo thing with but then Prince can't do anything though.

Madhousemen, was Brenda cool-what, if anything, did she have to say about Prince and vanity? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Always wondered if Brenda had the balls to spontaneously chime in during Purple Rain (Syracuse telecast) or if Prince invited her to step up???

She was very open about her time with Prince. I interviewed her for UPTOWN but I also interviewed her for a book about Prince's studio sessions that is in the works. She spoke about the sessions for 3x2=6 and about Vanity and Apollonia. My guess is that there will never be a reunion of either band. Tracking Susan is another thing. She has dropped off the map. The striking thing is that Susan actually showed up at the Prince/Tamar show in Miami at Club Mansion. The only reason i knew about it is because one of the moderators at the NPGMC mentioned it and posted an old pic of her from the Vanity days. Someone did respond by asking for a recent pic but none was posted or available i guess.

Brenda was the real deal. Has anyone kept count of how many times she said "Everybody" on record? She seemed so tough. A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

Ok 2 questions-one, madhousemen, does Brenda not feel kindly toward Vanity and Appollonia? Also, what do you mean about Brenda chiming in on Purple Rain during Syracruse? What is Brenda doing now? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I didn't say anything about Brenda chiming in at Syracuse. That was someone else. Regarding Brenda's thoughts about Vanity and Apollonia, there was nothing bad said at all... it was just obvious that she had moved on. She was very classy about everything and even teared up when we were talking about some of the memories, but she said nothing bad about either one of them. As to what she is doing now... I haven't seen her in 10 years, so I couldn't say. All I can tell you is that some of her information was reflected in the writing in UPTOWN, DMSR, and Days of Wild (and other UPTOWN publications). Hope that helps. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. Hopefully, the information will eventually be in my book about Prince's studio sessions. I am working on it, and there is no set release date. Thanx for checking. I love the way she repeatedly said "Everybody!" on certain songs On "Wet Dream",she seems determined to get the other girls to sing with more enthusiasm. She was like the cheeleader of the group: "Everybody sing together!!"

I think she had the best voice out of both incarnations of the 6's. A Million Miles is a great song, and i think she held her own on it. A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

In A Spanish Villa-Love this song by Apples It was pretty dope that back in the day Prince or an associated artist could put out an album with 5, 6, or 7 songs and have us totally entertained... The songs were extended and complex... Today you get CDs with 25 tracks and 90% of it is shit.
