The problem with Brenda was that she looked like the senior girl who would smoke in the girl's bathroom and beat your ass if you gave her the wrong look. But back in the day, all those girl groups had that tough looking member. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Don't crucify me if you saw the topic already. Just a reminder. If you get "THE BEST OF SOUL TRAIN" in your area (NY it's the CW 11) Saturday March 10th is the Vanity 6 re-run from 1982(3).

I like that scene in the "Sex Shooter" video when Appolonia is eyeing this guy and asks "Who's that?" and Brenda says "His name is MINE!!". Yeah she looks like one of those chicks that will sock you up if you disrespect her. Were her and Prince ever romantically involved? I can picture him with Vanity and Susan, But Brenda seems like she'd be a bit too much for him.

Prince and her were never romanticly linked. She was married to Roy, who also worked for Prince, and some of the tracks on Vanity/Apollonia 6 were inspired by her affection for her man. They have since divorced. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. Hey, that's goin' 2 far Here, give me the phone Hey tramp, take a bath in puke What's more, U can kiss where the sun don't shine If that don't work, we can duke U see, the only kinda man that would play with U Is one that plays with himself None of my friends could stand the sight of U Much less the smell And if I weren't a lady, I'd take my money And buy U a brand new face Then I'd take my underwear and stick it in your mouth And U'd love it cuz U got no taste And if that don't work, call back your dead daddy And show him what U look like now Honey, I'd bet he never come back Cuz U one ugly cow (Ooh-wee) Girl, U tell your boyfriend Jimmy he can go and get hit by a car Cuz as far as I see it, he can't afford 2 bite the beat of this star There's 2 things we can't stand One's a jive talk man The other's a jive talk man with no money Can U dig it?

Must have been another thread but THANKS for whoever said that P was gonna give 17 Days to A6 - I never noticed who was on background vox but now I hear Brenda. It's already pretty much my fave song by him, now I like it just that much more

At an early stage,Prince considered giving Apollonia 6 the songs "17 Days","Take Me With U","Manic Monday" and "The Glamorous Life" for their album.I heard they were pissed when he decided to give the latter to Sheila E. instead.

Well thank da Lawid he didn't give them any of those - can you imagine how bland The Glamorous Life would have been w/o Sheila?? Not that P couldn't have had some similar arrangement but her drumming is so perfect for it!
