Manuela in Harper's Bazaar, Feb. 2007

A nice article about her diet and exercise regimen. She posted this scan on her MySpace page.

Let's go down 2 the holy river,
If we drown then we'll be delivered.
If we don't then we'll never see the light.
If U die before U try,
U'll have 2 come back and face the light.
When U believe it, U got a good reason 2 cry.

Yes, she leads a very healthy life. I eat very similarly, but I eat more meat. I need more protein than the average person, I think! I also need to work out a little more than she does, cuz I've got pounds to LOSE not gain! Oh well, some people are just lucky like that. It's nice to get this inside peek at how she stays looking great.

Yes, it's gotten a lot of coverage in magazines. She's also working on a documentary that was screened at Sundance. She's got a lot going on right now.

It's called "Listen to the Children." They interview kids (many of them underpriveledged) about their hopes and dreams for their futures. Then, it asks why so many of these dreams never come true, and why so many of these kids never reach their goals.

Manuela told me about how difficult is was to shoot it, because many of the children were in foster homes, and they move constantly. She even said that one little girl was part of the project at the beginning, but her new foster parents don't want her to be in it. It sounds very frustrating, but it worth it to get the story out.

Thanks! There is a clip of the documentary online somewhere, but I'll have to find the link. One of the stories brought me to tears. It featured a young woman who is a senior in high school and a talented ballet dancer. At one point in time, she was struggling with her studies and she was surprised by the reactions of her teachers. She thought they would come to her aid, and try to help her get back on track. Instead they said, "Well, she's just another statistic. She's a person of color, and this was bound to happen anyway." Luckily, she proved them wrong, and is actually tutoring other kids now. It's disgusting that her own educators were ready to give up on her because of her race. sad

She is beautiful and in great health,

But if she were with me I would get that girl a sammich or two.

She should add these things to her diet to gain a few pounds:

Barbeque spare ribs
Pork Chops
Collard Greens
Mac & Cheese
Potato Salad
Neckbones & Rice
Cornbread
and fo dessert - Sweet Potato Pie and Ice Cream & some Chocolate Cake

Then wash it down with some of my mama's Anti Diabetic High Sugar Lemonade

That will just about get her metabolism rate right

Not to be mean, but why does she wear her wedding ring? And, why does she always say she is still married to Prince, but separated.

God bless her for taking care of the children, but there are many others who are more deserving for press time.
