Totally agree with you. VANITY was and still is hot (respect to Denise Matthews). NO ONE has even come close to her beauty, uniqueness, and overall charisma on stage. She had something! No one has had it since. Her voice may not have been Barbara Streisand's, but she was working on that.

Drugs ruined her, as it did many talented people in the 80's, especially freebasing.

I still think that if she hadn't become such a hardcore Christian, she could still live her life healthily, still believing in God, and still being successful. She was a brilliant actress! Absolutely fantastic! She could have had such a career in acting. I mean look at these idiots these days...Paris, Lindsay, and that group. Appalling!

Vanity's videos still hold up today as displaying a beautiful woman. Shame her background and upbringing is what ruined her, as it does alot of beautiful people. I always remember Prince's song 'The Beautiful Ones', when I think of her.

I agree that Vanity had an unparalleled beauty and stage presence and attitude.

If she were performing today she'd kick all these fake wannabes (...tryin' to be a pimp! sorry digression) to the curb..... Pussycat dolls, Ashanti, Ciara.... puh-lease.

I'm happy for her that she has found peace and happiness in her new life, although of course i'm sad for us that we'll never get to see "Vanity" perform again. (though if Prince can keep it goin' as a JW, in theory Denise could still perform without compromising her beliefs, but she has chosen a different path).

As an aside, I thought The Beatufiul Ones was actually written about Susannah in real life, even though in the movie it's about Vanity/Apples.
