Cynthia Johnson original member of The Time?

I was just watching "One Hit Wonders" on VH1; the song "Funkytown", by Lipps Inc. was included in the countdown. The ticker at the bottom of the screen said the groups lead singer, Cynthia Johnson, performed with an early version of Morris Day and The Time. Anyone know what songs she's featured on; or if she only sang back up during live performances?

Yes. Back then they were called Flyte Tyme. They once had about 12 members in the band, before scaling it down to 6.
