I just gave his greatest hits cd another listen after not really being able to get into it for some reason and that shit rocks! I must have been crazy to not like it before. This is one funky album.

The 'Ultimate Collection' comp is a really good representation of Jesse's funk material. You should try and find 'Shockadelica' if you like the comp that much. That album has some great songs not on 'Ultimate' like "Change Your Mind" and Jesse's version of "Do Yourself A Favor".

I also like "Addiction" and "Burn You Up".

Jesse's guitar work on "I'm Just Wanting You" is awesome! Some of his best work in my opinion.

When I first saw Jesse with The Time when they opened for P on the Controversy tour, I knew Jesse was bad. He really was the only cat that gave Prince compettion during the mid 80's. I thought he could have really took it to another level and really push the rock guitar, like he was doing on Every Shade Of Love album. Although he has some leads on his debut, the solos are mixed waaay down. That was probably from the label, not wanting to spook black radio. I thought the door was gaped wide open from P's assult of black radio with his blistering and loud solos from When Doves Cry, Let's Go Crazy and Purple Rain. I wanted Jesse to come blasting in that same door with his rock.

I listen to She (I Can't Resist) at least 3 or 4 times a day. I love the everything about that song. From the funky guitar riff, to the great lyrics, to the way he says "good god" right before he launches into the guitar solo.

Jesse's the man and I can't wait to hear the new stuff. We've waited long enough.
