What's the deal with the writing credits on the Vanity/Apples "6" albums? This has been a mystery to me for years and maybe somebody has cleared this up but maybe I forgot. The Apollonia 6 and Vanity 6 albums have writing credits that are all over the map, usually giving the girls credit or at least partial credit for the writing. Most often, the credit goes the lead singer (I believe Susan is solely credited for all of her masterpieces on both LPs). In some cases, the girls are credited as a group. And in some cases, the girls are credited with one of the band members. For example, I believe Dez and Brena share a credit for "Bite the Beat".
Now....Is this true? For years I always thought Prince was the writer of those songs and in cases like "Wet Dream", you know it's a Pince throwaway track adjusted for Vanity. Am I wrong? And in some places, isn't Prince credited as a writer. like when "Nasty Girl" appears on "Girl 6" for example. So what's the deal. Did he write these songs or just produce the them...Did he give the girls credit just because he felt like it? [Edited 1/14/07 15:07pm] | |

Prince wrote the majority of the songs (I think Lisa wrote one or 2...).
The girls were credited as the writers because of credibility. Remember that these are jammie starr productions. Prince did the same with The Time and with The Family | |

Prince wrote and played on every track. The only exception being He's So Dull which is Dez's song.  love is god, god is love, girls and boys love god above | |

About Lisa, she did a song for The Time...(The stick)
