I heard her segment on the show streaming on Smiley's website:
http://www.tavistalks.com...21506.html ...apparently her album is now called "World Premiere" and supposedly some of the songs she did with Prince for "Milk & Honey" will be on it (I'm guessing the 3 songs she offered for download via Burn Lounge, maybe BL&B as well) along with the new material with Kwame and some other producers she named. Wow, what a great interview.
Unlike some people who speculated, I'm not sensing any bad vibes between her and Prince. It seemed he was really into her knowing the ins and outs of the business and giving her a lot of encouragement, and she expresses a heartfelt appreciation of that. | |

Great Interview, Tamar is very impressive. And her success will be a testimate to Princes genius, I bet he even made the call to get Tamar on Tavis's show on the low. He's sitting back and watching Tamar use the schooling he gave and use it the correct way. | |

Thanks for posting the link to this. I thought she was going to be on the Tavis Smiley tv show. I didn't even look at the listing to see that it was a radio interview.  Anyway... indeed that was a good interview. Good to see my girl TayTay doing her thing.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

See there...and folks around here thought Prince dumped her like last week's garbage. I for one am glad to know there's no ill-will between them and I wish Tamar all the success and happiness she deserves.

Bland, generic R&B. By the numbers 'Beyonce' routine. I'll buy it for the 'Milk & Honey' songs though. It'd better be heavy on them. | |

I listened to the interview. Her song "Round and Round" is getting lot of plays, it's over 12,000 plays now, and "So Long" has over 6,000 plays. I'd say that's pretty darn good. Quote by Prime: Tamar on Tavis Smiley

There's always two sides to every story...Not saying they are on bad terms (I don't know either personally), but just because she says so, doesn't necessarily mean it's true. I'm skeptical b/c if they are on such good terms 1. why isn't her Milk & Honey album coming out? 2. why isn't she performing on a Wednesday night at 3121 Vegas? seems suspicious to me...  | |

There's always two sides to every story...Not saying they are on bad terms (I don't know either personally), but just because she says so, doesn't necessarily mean it's true. I doubt Esthero, J'Davey, and Goapele are "after" Prince's fanbase either but they played Vegas because Prince's name carries clout. I know you are friends with Tamar, and I'm not hating by any means; it's just that no matter what way you look at it things don't quite add up...there is a missing piece of the puzzle.
I actually haven't had a chance to listen to the interview b/c I'm at work...hopefully I'll be able to do that tonight. I prefered what I heard of Milk & Honey, so I'm bummed that it's not coming out; especially since the new stuff is kinda bland, imho. | |

Tavis says that he and Prince are friends so I wouldn't be surprised if a phone call was made on Tamar's behalf.
I prefer Milk and Honey to the new material but appealing to a younger audience is probably better for her career at this point. A lot of Prince fans went out of their way to hate on this talented sista so a new direction may work out better for her in the long run. Wishing you much success Ms. Tay Tay. I dont think its the other way around because she still using songs from Milk&Honey on World Premier, If the label(Universal) or Prince had the power to shelve the M&H then how can Tamar sell 3 songs off M&H thru burnlounge??? Esthero, J'Davey, and Goapele arent labled as "prince protege" at least i dont think they are. You cant compare them to Tamar. Basically i agree with babynoz 100% everything may not add up buts its water under the bridge. | |

Seriously, I liked the 'Milk & Honey' material, but was very dissapointed at her new material. I was joined to her MySpace page, which is where I heard them. Apologies, if I have been a little 'vitrolic', but why Tamar now has to sound like every other conveyor-belt R&B starlet is beyond me. Thus the comments you have seen. | |
