Your Favorite Prince Protege Who's Your Favorite Prince Protege and/or favorite prince-penned track for someone else.
For me, favorite overall "protege" if they qualify as such would be The Time, if not Sheila E. (who remembers when her drum set was suspended and her sticks were glowing in the dark and she was going INSANE in pitch blackness on the drums during the Lovesexy tour?!) favorite trax are Screams of Passion (the Family; i assumed prince wrote this under one of his pseudonyms), The Glamorous Life, A Love Bizarre, and 777-9311 (talk about CLASSIC FUNK!)

I liked all the sexy, lingere clad ones...the Vanity/Apollonia/Mayte/Carmen ect types...I just REALLY liked their style and how girly they were. But I have ALOT of respect for the women that didn't want to go that route under his wing to... like Ingrid Chavez...I LOVE her album...I also really miss Rosie Gaines and Prince singing together..I really love her voice. Also I gotta say..how can anyone not love the Time??? They will always be one of my favorite bands..their music is SO fun!

Sheila but I admire Carmen for doing her own thing and still in the game. Don't take life too seriously, noone gets out alive.

Sheila, she is talented and managed to survive despite the everyday changes and still very active and very well respected in the industry..

Without a doubt, Sheila E.
In every way, especially musically, meaning both Prince's music 4 her, and her playing style on drums and percussion. The album versions of "The Glamourous Life", "Shortberry Strawcake", and "Love Bizzare" R all I need 2 illustrate my preference... Some of Prince's funkiest masterworks. Her style on percussion and drums moves me, the way she pushes, and she is top notch timbale player. [Edited 12/12/06 13:45pm] "He's a musician's musician..."
