Altru Incense

I just received my order of Altru/Mani's incense from Nordstrom. I ordered the metal scroll which contains 15 sticks of "Wellness" which is a combination of white clove and wild ginger. I also ordered a cylinder containing 40 sticks of "Integrity" which is persian lilac and bamboo. Folks, these are absolutely lovely. The scents are nothing like I have ever experienced in other products. Such exotic fragrances! The only complaint I have is that the metal scroll is not like the one pictured on Nordstrom's site. That one looks much richer and prettier than the one I received which is a copper color and not at all like the representation on the Nordstrom site. For $55 I expected to receive what was pictured. I'm going to write them to let them know that it is not a fair representation. But as far as the incense goes, I am very pleased. Try it.

Interesting. I'm going to check them out in person at the Nordstrom in Seattle. Mani will actually be there this coming Saturday, so I I hope I will get to meet her.

They totally look like something that they would sell at Anthropologie! I've purchased some candles from there that had a very similar look to them. The price range is about the same too. (albeit expensive)

That sounds about right.

I like to describe it as "tattered elegance", because they make clothes with fine fabrics (and charge fine prices), but leave a lot of hems unfinished. Everything looks like it's been taken out of a very old hope chest, shaken out, and hung on a clothing rack with a price tag attached. biggrin

The incense holder with 15 sticks cost $30. The paper cylinder with 40 sticks cost $15 for a total of $45. Add shipping/tax, about $55. I guess I could have saved $10 by driving 30 miles to Nordstrom, but I figured I'd burn that up in gas, so same difference.

I really like the incense that came in the scroll set. I'm surprised your scroll didn't look ornate like the one on the website. I bought one from a Norstrom store, and it is very pretty. There are little flowers and leaves all over it.

I got the Harmony incense too. It's very fruity, and a unique scent for incense.

Is your scroll copper? Yes, the filigree on mine looks like leaves and flowers, but I thought it was supposed to have some gold color in it by the looks of the photo on Nordstroms.

Yeah, the photo on Nordstrom does look more gold, but it's supposed to be copper. Still, I think it looks very nice. It has the handmade look to it, and was made in India, so it matches my home decor perfectly.
