Tamar speaks out about Milk & Honey

This year has been a wonderful and overwhelming year. And with each
day there is always news to be shared, heard, and explored. Many of
you have been asking about the "Milk & Honey" album produced by my
mentor and the genius PRINCE and co-written by me. Unfortunately,
that album will not be released due to representation on all levels.
I have started fresh and I would like to give you some sneak peaks
for you to get a feel and an understanding of what Tamar has been up
to lately. Please comment and give me your feedback as I embark on a
very fun and eventful journey. Until then, remain Beautiful, Loved,
and Blessed.....~Tamar Davis~

P.S. For more information of the acclaimed producer of these songs
visit www.myspace.com/kwamemusic and give him a few words or 2.....

The New songs are "Round & Round" (not Tevin's) So Long, and
Nuthin. The latter 2 when I tried 2 play it failed. This songs, as
Tamar stated before, are not produced by Prince as she is starting
fresh.

Credit 4 sending this in goes 2 Joeyjames of the bump Squad and
Housequake.

We wish Tamar well on her future career and much support.-j7

This news item below was sent in by redflag and it shows that Tamar is staying busy;

Tamar Davis is supposedly working on something with Celeste Scalone
from MTV's "Making The Band III" according to this press release:

http://www.prleap.com/pr/56216/

FORMER MTV REALITY SHOW PERSONALITY, CELESTE SCALONE IS ON PATH TO
MAKE IT WITHOUT "THE BAND"

(PRLEAP.COM) Los Angeles, CA - November 19, 2006 – Formerly, one of
the nineteen female housemates on MTV's, "Making the Band III" Celeste
officially launches her career as a solo artist, commemorated by a
walk down the red carpet at the 34th Annual American Music Awards.

After her departure from MTV's Making the Band III, Celeste spent just
moments in disappointment but took solace in the fact that there is a
certain formula required in order to make a pop group and her destiny
is to showcase her soulful vocals and songwriting talent as a solo
artist. "The staff told me that I was absolutely one of the best
vocalists, I believe that they were looking for a group that
emphasized choreographed dance performances rather than great vocal
and writing ability which are my strengths as a recording artist. Not
being chosen as part of the final five is definitely okay with me. I
believe everything happens for a reason and my time is now."

Currently, the vocally gifted singer/songwriter from Los Angeles
prepares material for her upcoming album by working with Grammy
nominated producer Damone Arnold of Dreemi Entertainment and
writer/producer Tony Haynes whose songs are credited for selling over
70 million worldwide. In addition to collaborating with those music
mavens, Celeste is ecstatic to be collaborating with one of the music
industry's top producers but plans to disclose the details of that
relationship at a later date. A friend to many artists, Celeste will
also be writing for Prince protégé, Tamar Davis.

During her November 21st American Music Awards, red carpet appearance,
Celeste will be available for interviews and candid conversations
about her experiences and future plans. For a sample of Celeste's
music, visit one of her websites: www.myspace.com/CelesteOnline or
www.CelesteOnline.net or for a disc sample contact The DanielleVincent
Agency.

About Celeste:
Celeste received her start as a full-fledged performer while working
with super-producer, 7 Aurelius. During that time, Celeste's
mesmerizing vocals captured the attention of rapper JaRule. Soon,
Celeste's voice was featured on his hit record, "Murder Reigns" (or
"The Reign"), one of the songs from his chart-topping album, "The Last
Temptation." Celeste's voice and songwriting skills are also featured
on "I Need A Man" the single from on Foxy Brown's album, "The Fever."
After completing those projects, Celeste received a recording offer
but rejected the deal due to personal conviction to stay true to
herself and her craft. Rebuffing the notion of a "once in a lifetime
opportunity," Celeste remained determined to pursue her career on her
own terms.

...so now Tamar is produced by Kwame (as in "polka-dot" old-school rapper Kwame), as the MySpace page Tamar refers us to confirms this is the same guy. I used to love his song "Ownlee Ewe" back in the day!

Now look. You hear that? That Round and Round joint.
Prince couldn't do it for her, man.

Agreed!

I think she will do better now that Prince has moved on.

The exposure from her association with him will absolutely help her... but her voice, style and look really doesn't mesh with Prince's style. She sounds and look more like RB. Watch out Divas!!! Get 'em girl!!

I have to agree with you here. The new tracks are hot and definately more hip than what she could ever do with Prince and I'm beginning to think Milk & Honey was just too corny to the execs, even though I happen to like it very much. I think this was the best thing to happen for Tamar. I like what I hear and I'm definately getting this CD.

I love that track "Round and Round" and will buy her cd if it's available for sale. I'm snapping my fingers and feeling this song...good job Tamar,

The other track "So Long"...deep, feeling this one too..a hot soulful track..this one gives me chills..kind of on the level of Leela James' "My Joy"."Nuthin" is cool but I really like "Round and Round" and "So Long" the best..those 2 will definitely do well. Besides, Kwame is a very good producer. As for her picture, on her myspace page, she looks like a "Queen sitting upon her throne". Love the new music Tamar! clapping

I don't know y'all. It sounds like all the other manufactured R&B I hear on the radio. Maybe slightly more interesting music, but the vocal arrangements sound like everything else I hear. Yeah, it's more hip in a cliche kind of way.

did Milk & Honey ever leak? i haven't seen hide nor hare of it. which is surprising, since it got so close to release (several times, in fact). pretty sure i saw a couple of reviews, so obviously there were some promos sent out.

You know you're right about the vocals. If you compare the new tracks to Beautiful, Loved Blessed, her voice sound processed on the new ones, the when BLB plays at the end, the sound and her vocals are much more clear. I guess that's the trend now a days. oh well. I still like her new songs alot.

Tamar's new songs leave me cold.

Predictably, generic R&B seems to be her 'new' direction.

Seriously, any average soul singer could have sang those tracks. The production is wannabee Beyonce ... .

Truly awful.

Wow, I don't like the new songs AT ALL. It really does sound like Beyonce-lite at best. This is far, far inferior to the pure soul sound of Sunday in the Park.

You know what. I have to admit that today, I gave her songs another listen, which makes about four times and my brain unexpectedly started the process of osmosis with her songs and other R&B songs of today.

I'm still going to support her because seeing her live she has me hooked on her talents. I know her songs with Prince may not have sold but BLB, Red-headed Stepchild and other songs stuck out more.

Oh well, what can you do. I just hope in the end this is what she wants, because girlfriend is way too talented.

I gotta say that I agree.

Did nothing 4 me nor 2 me.

It was cool though 2 check Kwame's tracks on his MySpace. I like the "Fantasia Sneak Peek" track.. at least the minimalism of the beat, and musical bleep phrase.

Also, the Christina thing is alright, the Talib Kwele track is bangin', and the Method Man one is tight.

What do you expect? Tamar is not going to revolutionize the music industry. She is not going to be able to pull an Alicia Keys, Ciara, Ashanti or Beyonce because she doesn't have the 'look' or the backing. Unfortunately, the way the industry is, her only options are to go the urban AC/neo-soul route or go the so-called "generic" r&b route. Hell, even Beyonce had to go back to the studio and dumb down her music with her first album.

Oh yeah, even if Round and Round is generic r&b, it sounds a hell of a lot better than that Holla & Shout bull. eek

I agree. It's predictable, generic and average. She could do a lot better imo.

I think Beyonce lite is a good description. This new direction doesn't interest me at all but since this is what passes for music these days she'll probably do okay.

Still like Tamar's voice.

Don't like the new songs so much.

"Round & Round" is the type of song I would quickly turn the station from if it came on. I hate the music to it.

The second song is a little more bearable. But it's monotonous.

Third song is well blah...

Good luck to her. I hope the rest of the album is better than these three songs. I think I will support her just bacause I think she deserves a shot because she has a beautiful voice.

The new pic is cute.

Yeah, that's kinda of what I was thinkin' too. I guess w/o Prince's name attached she has to go with what everyone else is doing if she wants to 'make it'. It totally sounded like Destiny's Child redux to me.

I wish Milk & Honey would have been released...I really wanted to hear Redhead Stepchild. pout
