what I heard on her web page sounds like typical garbage you hear these days, nothing special ..

I just love how so many people are dogging Tamar's new music...calling it typical and generic r&b and saying that it's nothing special. Ummm...many were saying the same thing about BLB, so what difference does it make. I guess some of you didn't hear the other songs that she did with Prince. Based on the few songs that were previewed/released, there was nothing special about the Prince produced music either. I am willing to bet that nothing on Milk and Honey would have gotten major play on the radio and it would not have been due to the music supposedly being so superior that radio couldn't handle it.
I'll take Round and Round any day of the week over Holla and Shout. [Edited 12/1/06 4:24am]

[Edited 12/1/06 4:24am] you're right, they didn't like the Prince produced songs, they don't like the news songs, which way can we go. But just to point out, Holla and Shout was wack, but she had four songs that were very good, BLB, Redheaded Stepchild, Sunday in the Park and All I Want Is U, these songs are more fresh and unique that her new songs. Round and Round is hot for the moment, hopefully it will get radio/video play, but just like most R&B songs today after a few months I probably don't wanna hear it anymore.

If the request is not apart of the paid playlist you can forget it. However, remember when Tamar was begging folks to call the radio station to play her songs.....did she not know either?

I'll take Round and Round any day of the week over Holla and Shout. [Edited 12/1/06 4:24am] Some of Prince so called fans hate on Tamar plain and simple. This was posted on another prince site its in respond to a myspace message. It seems Tamar knows about the negativity and knows that her fan base is not based on Prince's fans. BL&B, All eye want is U, SITP, Round Round, So Long, Holy Ground, all are good songs, Tamar will be fine From: Tamar Davis Date: Nov 22 2006 10:56 PM First, eye locked your information in my sidekick to give to my assistant. Second, I don't go to those sites anymore because they are very interesting. Third, I know the Bible and quite interesting is that yesterday, that scripture kept stirring in my spirit. This year was and is incredible. I already knew what god was doing with me and through me and there is so much that has been setup not for fame, but ministry. So I appreciate you going out of your way to encourage me. And as I am typing, I am bugging because lately I have been wanting to really reach out to my supporters personally. And now I am sensing that all my life this is what I do. encourage people, even total strangers. And I've been getting emotionally weak a little because it wasn't coming back. Not like I was asking, but wondering if I was on peoples' hearts and spirits. But I appreciate this time. Because now I'm hearing like never before and He is now surrounding me with kingdom builders. And even though I'm not singing gospel or spiritual songs, what He has given me on the new songs is finally HIS sound just with a twist. But now you get me....ASHLEY TAMAR Davis. So stay encouraged and I will continue to do what's called and needed. Tell the Prince fans hello and that Tamar is still here and Me and Uncle P are still if not closer than ever before! Miss you much but not for long, TD

For what it's worth, I was really looking forward to Milk & Honey. Couldn't wait to hear Redhead Stepchild.
I'm just not feelin' the latest stuff I heard. It's bland to me. But I'll take Tamar any day over those awful Twinz. At least Tamar can sing and has style. I don't know her personally, so I can't speak about her character. I hoping M&H comes out on bootleg eventually...

I just think there are a lot of Prince fans are biased against r&b period. They constantly rag on r&b music, as if the commerical pop/rock scene is conquering new territory. I really like Tamar, so I am willing to give her a chance to come into her own person. Hopefully, she'll get better representation, a stylist and hooks up with writers and producers that can give her a fresh and youthful sound. I really would hate to see her pigion-holed in the Urban AC/neo-soul genre. We have enough India-Aire's, Jill Scott's, Amel Larrieux's, Erykah Badu's, Corrine Rae Bailey's, etc. [Edited 12/1/06 17:48pm]

Who knows, when she finally comes out she might be a totally different artist from who she is now. We all know, better than anybody how our boy tends to "Princefy" everyone he works with I'm disappointed as a fam, but I'm happy for Tamar I like the way you put that cause it so makes sense. Lemmie guess, she doesn't own her music...how quaint. "If the whole world buys your bullshit, I don't care."
