"representaton on all levels" means just that. she had problems with the big label (was it sony or universal or something) and problems with prince. my guess is the label wanted certain terms and prince didn't like the terms and in the end, the only person who lost out was tamar. but that's just a guess.

Yeah this is nothing more than a repeat of the "Rosie Gaines" show. I mean though Prince has worked with her here and there, he really did give up on it and focused his attention more on Carmen Electra's record.

This year has been a wonderful and overwhelming year. And with each day there is always news to be shared, heard, and explored. Many of you have been asking about the "Milk & Honey" album produced by my mentor and the genius PRINCE and co-written by me. Unfortunately, that album will not be released due to representation on all levels. I have started fresh and I would like to give you some sneak peaks for you to get a feel and an understanding of what Tamar has been up to lately. Please comment and give me your feedback as I embark on a very fun and eventful journey. Until then, remain Beautiful, Loved, and Blessed.....~Tamar Davis~

P.S. For more information of the acclaimed producer of these songs visit www.myspace.com/kwamemusic and give him a few words or 2....

Oh dear!! Big halabaloo!

Translation....

Universal wanted to have other producers on the album to make it more radio friendly and hip, P didn't want songs he worked on screwed with. Universal said then we're not releasing it. End of story.

O.K., then why didn't she say, "due to MIS-representation on all levels?" The statement, as she put it, doesn't make sense to me. Or why not just say that the CD wouldn't have been the true project she would have wanted and decided to go a different route. That's ambiguous enough but a little more specific than "representation on all levels".

Whatever.shrug I do like the new stuff, though.

not for anything, I love Prince, but i totally blame him for this, and this shows his lack for devoting time to projects. This album could have come out, i know they may have been looking for some big push, but if they were preaching about her talent, which she has, then the goal should have been to just release it and then let word of mouth do the rest.

I wouldn't blame Prince completely...blame rarely belongs to one person entirely.

So why couldnt Prince & Tamar release it on their own? Can they since they own the masters?

My guess. She wants to get played on the radio. If a major label isn't releasing it the odds of her getting any airplay are little to none. Next best thing is to sound like everything else on the radio...such as the three new songs indicate.

I doubt that since some tracks have been made available for sale by Tamar via Burn Lounge. And since it seems some of the songs are owned by her SAG (I think that's what it's called) production company.

What are you talking about?? Tamar is doing her thing. Just because she not a part of the Vegas gig doesn't mean she's nowhere. She opened up for Mint Condition a few weeks ago and she has obviously been in the studio working on some new music. Not having a band is not going to make her or break her, especially considering the fact that most of her peers don't have one. Beyonce just got a band and she has been in the game for almost a decade.

I've never met Prince personally, so I wouldn't know...(and frankly, I prefer to presume not assume wink ). Regardless, Prince isn't the one on this thread ASSuming that he is solely to blame...so that just leaves???

All I'm proposing is that perhaps Prince isn't 100% to blame for Milk & Honey being sucked into the Paisley void. Stranger things have happened. shrug

right now she IS nowhere. she got an album out? a song? a contract? nope. that may change, but at the moment, all she's got is a page on myspace, and so do millions of other people.

She is somewhere trying to start over...recording new music, working with a new producer, that's where she is. Why should I or anyone else expect her to have a song out or album out NOW when the whole M&H project has been scrapped? She's not just sitting a home boohooing about how the whole thing with Prince went down. She may not have a contract, a backing band, etc, but no longer being connected to Prince may be her blessing in disguise.

I'm thinking Prince got mad at the record company and thus her contract was nul and void. From what I heard of the tracks in working, she got it going on.

So the fans have to lose out by not getting to hear the CD?

Cant believe nothing can be worked out to get it released.

Foolish, eventually itll get bootlegged
and NO ONE will make money off it.
