Which back up band was the funkiest? Could rock the hardest? The most musically diverse? Original band?
Current band? The Revolution? The Counter Revolution? SOTT/Lovesexy? NPG?(various line ups) ONA/Musicology? Anybody I'm missing?

The lineup that rocked the hardest was his 81-83 lineup with BrownMark and Dez. The funkiest lineup was The Revolution, 84-85. The most versatile was his 87-88 lineup. He had great lineups in the 90's as well. They just lacked character. Great musicians,...u gotta be if you're going to play in his band. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

The Revolution from 1983-86 have the most personality and most musicially diverse with Wendy and Lisa contributions. His SOTT/Lovesexy band was his funkiest band and have a lots of stage presence and energy. His original band from 1978-83 was his hard-edged rock band with little funk and rnb here and there. His 90s band had its talent with Michael Bland, Tommy B, and Rosie Gaines and Rhonda but other than that they was a typical backup band with no personality.

What? No love for the 2002-2004 era band? Every cat in this band was practically a virtuoso on their instrument.
NPG2k was a serious beast. (But I'm still lovin' the Wendy and Lisa Revolution)... Some people tell me I've got great legs...

The funkiest and hardest would be his backup band before it was ever called The Revolution. As for which one was the most diverse, that's a turn-off to me. Andy is a four letter word.
