Any details on a planned second album by Vanity 6? I was listening to "Vibrator" yesterday and that song is just outrageous! I love it! Hearing that song makes me mad that Vanity left the group so soon. Can you imagine what a second Vanity 6 album could have been like? I bet it would have been much more exciting than the uneven Apollonia 6 album.Does anyone have any details on the planned album? I know that a few songs were recorded in the spring of 1983,before Vanity's departure:
"Sex Shooter" "Vibrator" "Wet Dream Cousin" (an instrumental...more like a demo...unofficially titled "Wet Dream Cousin" because of it's similarity to "Wet Dream") Was "G-Spot" ever planned for the second Vanity 6 album? I ask this question because,on one of my bootlegs, when the song "Vibrator" ends,I can hear the beginning of "G-Spot"! Unfortunately,it cuts off abruptly so I never get to hear if it is indeed a Vanity 6 version of that song.It seems logical that Prince would link these two songs together on their album....like an X-rated medley he was planning I'm thinking that Side One of their album might have looked like this: SIDE ONE--- Sex Shooter Vibrator G-Spot If you think about it,the three songs are thematically linked.I also heard rumors of other songs with titles like "Moral Majority","Come On Now Children","Harder Babe" and a few others that I can't recall right now.Do these songs really exist? Does anyone have a rumored tracklist? How far along was this album before Vanity decided to abandon ship?

I would give my left nut to have the second Vanity 6 album.
The tracklist as I have read would have been something like this: Vibrator G Spot 17 Days (Brenda on lead vocals) Gym Class Pizza No Call U Moral Majority Sex Shooter None of this is 100% confirmed that I am aware of (paging Mr. Fishpaw ) and I don't know if it ever got as far as being officially sequenced and mastered. Still I refuse to go to my grave until I hear a Vanity 6 song called "Pizza"

I would add Manic Monday to that list too. And YES a V-6 album would have been better than the A-6 that came out. But as for another V-6 album seeing the light of day? Highly unlikely! Nope- Manic Monday was never intended for Vanity 6, it was only ever considered for Appolonia 6. As for "Pizza" here is an excerpt from The Vault: Following the 1999 tour, Prince had started recording songs, including "Promise To Be True," "Vibrator," and "Sex Shooter," for an intended second Vanity 6 album. There were also numerous songs left over from sessions for their first album to choose from, including "I Need A Man," "Jealous Girl," "Moral Majority," "Pizza," and "Too Much." Prince had also recorded "No Call U" (known as "U Call Me" amongst fans) and "Extra Lovable" with Vanity singing lead.

I do think if Vanity had stuck around Manic Monday might have been considered for that album. Christian Zombie Vampires

By the way, love your signature! God I miss Julie Brown. [Edited 11/1/06 10:52am]

I have heard the Vanity version of Sex Shooter...way better than Apples...more conviction to the singing. I miss Julie too! I was singing that song to myself this morning...shocked I knew all of the words. Christian Zombie Vampires

Damn,I really want to hear those songs! I wish they would remaster the first Vanity 6 album, then add a second disc of all the outtakes. How cool would that be?

I have a demo of Moral Majority, it's actually an early version of We Can Funk. No Vanity on it, though. |

Moral Majority was a different track. For some reason, the early version of WCF has been labeled as such, but that is not correct. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. My furry, fishy anchovie is aching and my womb Needs a long pork sausage topped off with a mushroom My pie is hot and waiting and it's ready to please So bring on the extra meat but leave off the smelly cheese . . [Edited 11/9/06 9:21am] and they ended the song with the chef (Prince as usual) asking her how big of a slice she wanted, and she said that tonight she was hungry and needed at least 7" or more. It is nice to hear that I'm not the only one jamming on that song. I think the most shocking thing about the song is if you listen closely, you can hear that he used the music for "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel, I made it out of clay...". It's a Family outtake sung by Susannah. Wish I had it. I have a "G-Spot" bootleg. dtt-lyrics.com says its Prince on lead vocals, but I swear, its sung by Brenda (altho, Prince comes in near the end). If Vanity 6 was remastered with said second CD of bootlegs, I would pee myself. rock on with your bad self

Prince would probably not work out a deal like that unless he could get back more of his ownership, and there would not be huge market for the Vanity album, and I don't think there will EVER be a reunion tour to piggyback the CD with, so sadly, we are stuck wid what we gots.
