Exactly, they just don't get it do they wlcm2thdawn? The Twinz are light-skinned black women and whether Tamar was a different shade, she is still part of "his kind" so to speak, since the poster wants to go there with that statement. Where do they get this idea that Prince is something other than a light-skinned Black man is beyond me I don't know how many times he has to tell fans in his songs what he truly is, guess they don't listen to the lyrics close enough . Apparently they made that comment to spark things. Secondly, to assume he's having affairs with either the Twinz or with Tamar is just somebody desperate for gossip with no life. Unless they can show a picture with Prince in bed with any of the females they mention, then it's nothing but cheap ass gossip .

They sure aren't full blooded white women. I believe it's their mother that is white. I never saw a pic of their dad, but on one of their earlier websites when they first started out they mention they have trinidadian roots and they had darker hair (dark brown in their early pics), go to their first website and read for yourself, I know you are not being rude with that question. It's ok, a lot of people don't seem to be aware of it. Those features never fool a black person. I have a niece that same complexion and her father is from Trinidad, mother is a light-skinned black women. In Trinidad and all the caribbean there is a lot of race-mixing for years, there's also a lot of Asians in Trinidad and some look like East Indians as well. This is nothing new. I keep telling people black people come in all flavors, Vanilla with a touch of caramel topped with some chocolate sprinkles! I don't know why they just don't listen . [Edited 10/23/06 20:03pm]

. [Edited 10/23/06 19:36pm] Maya McLean Australian Idol Females More Australian Idol Surprise!!!Need I say more?? Isn't it amazing what a little hair dye and hair straightening will do? Got this from the net, so to define "his kind" there it is, so you see, Tamar was part of "his kind" too with a slightly different flavor so to speak . I told you we come in all shades. I don't want anybody passing out from the shock that these twinz are not white girls ok? They just have a touch of vanilla with chocolate swirl that's all. I happen to think the Twinz do a very good job on stage, so this isn't to put them down or anything but just showing you what they looked like before hooking up with Prince. interesting. thanks. i honestly would never have known. personally, i like that look better than the current one. but i don't agree about their performance abilities. I think they really need to work on their "timing". When they perform together their timing is very off, they are not always in sync together and it really shows. My 11 year old daugther noticed that right off the bat on the most AI performance (and one other recent one). The first thing she said is that they can't keep in sync and that they look spastic half the time, LOL. No disrespect to the twinz, but coming from a dance background, I have to agree with my daughter.

No problem, I just remember seeing a picture of them with long black hair on another site before they started touring with Prince. You can really see the difference in that picture and the way they look now with the blond straight hair vs. wavy black hair. The texture of hair in that picture speaks for itself. Like I said, I am not putting them down, as far as their dancing, it's really not that bad especially when dancing in heels as high as they wear. [Edited 10/24/06 9:25am]

I agree with you txladykat (this is Desi/Tracie...we emailed each other a few months back). It would seem that since they are twins that they would have it more together than most. I would think that since they are twins they would want to look more like a mirror image. I also get alot of people that will argue with me and tell me to my face that I could not be ALL african american...that one of my parents have to be white...but no mom and dad are both african american. My kids get it worse, especially my daughter. I have not learned how to post a picture yet..as soon as I do I will. J

Also when I look in the mirror I don't even see why people would assume that I was mixed. I don't have long hair and my features are african american. But that is me.

J That is probably because they go by your complexion, if you're light-skinned people automatically assume you have one parent from a different race. My nieces get that all the time, they're used to it and let people know that both their parents are African-American/Black whichever one chooses to call themselves. I think society forgets what happened years ago in this country and others with all the race mixing. Even if it's 2 black parents, if there was some kind of mixture in the family, let's say in your grandparents generation, it may skip your generation, but it will definitely show in the next, it did in my family, especially my nieces and nephews all born 2 to 3 years apart at the most, but they know they are Black or African-American, although some people think one of their parents are white or hispanic, What can I say, apparently the bloodline doesn't lie. Just some can recognize certain features more than others and know the difference. [Edited 10/24/06 11:39am]

I have not had it long in a long time because I got tired of people coming up and touching it...like it could not possibly be all mine. My daughter has VERY curly hair and people always stick their hands in it...I think that is rude and unsanitary. I try to keep it braided some kind of way to keep people from touching it. She is only six and the girls in her class already are calling her "white girl." She is so confused and it is so sad that kids this young are doing that. She comes home crying because noone wants to be her friend. My myspace address is http:www.myspace.com/desi1031 I have my kids on there. My stepkids are the lighter of the four. hi tracie, i remember you! i came across some of your old emails just the other day
interetsing..but so true. my ex-husband was mixed. when i first met him i thought he was from a spanish background or something of the likes, but turned out that his mother was caucasian and his father african/american, so that explained it. His mother was extremely fair, and his father very dark skinned, but he had a beautiful olive complexion with the most hypnotic green eyes.

Hey Tx, nice to hear from you. I think that the mindset of some people is that black people are not beautiful. I am not saying that you think that. I know from people just coming up to me and asking or pulling on my hair that they can't seem to think that black people come in many different shades, eye colors, hair texture. We are beautiful. There seems to be a stereotype of how we are supposed to look.
I lived in Savannah, GA from 1979 to 2003 and I got alot of looks and mouth...especially when I was out with my stepkids. Their mother is white and they are beautiful and most people think that they are white. I had one older lady ask me why they were calling me "mom." I said because they are my kids(me and my husband had custody at that time from the time they were in diapers). She was angry and said that I should not have white kids calling me "mom" and that I was probably mixed, but they could not be 'mine'. They called me "mom" because that is what they saw me as. My stepdaughter and my daughter are half sisters and they look alike but one is just darker than the other(until my step daughter gets in the sun) and my daughter has darker hair that will probably get lighter(it's brown now)as she gets older and is in the sun and from swimming. My son on the other hand...everyone thinks he is hispanic because he has curly hair and slight features. He keeps his hair short now since we have moved up North because the girls stayed in it as he got older. His father is Hispanic though. My daughters father is black and she still looks mixed. I call them my rainbow coalition(sp) Tracie

LOL. Yea, I am a very fair skinned red head (in the south no less). My children's father is hispanic. They got his jet black hair, but my very fair skin. Actually makes for a nice combination, girls really did it, especially my oldest son's splash of freckles across his nose.

Txladykat and Jiminy, this turned out to be a nice conversation after all. See you just never know who has what in their blood, just by physical appearance doesn't tell anyone the real story, but it is so silly what people assume at first glance, I have to say it's been nice talking to you two, we kept the conversation on a mature level, nice chatting with you two!
