Carmen Electra outtakes rock bigtime!

Ok, iam a huge fan of pop rap from that era (marky mark, biscuit, gerardo etc..), and u can see why Prince thought Carmen would hit big if he followed the formula of acts like marky mark and the funky bunch. If he had released her album a year earlier, maybe one of the singles would of bene a big hit? (Never caught "go go dancer" on MTV, but did record "everybody get on up", when it was shown, though that might of been on the box channel? I still have it somewhere)

Anyway, these outtakes were all completely finished and mixed even:

Power from above
The Juice (u can do a mean running man to this LOL)
Powerline
Go carmen go
Carmen on top
fun part II (this is just a short instrumental of "fun", which is pretty funky)

I think all the above trax are really good. "Powerline" is passable, but the rest are really enjoyable and are alot more fun then alot of Prince's boots.

"power from above" has a huge production. I get the feeling this was remixed by smeone outside of paisley park. "Carmen on top" is sexy and "go carmen go" is pretty funny. "The juice" is funky as hell.

I think iam the only fan of these outtakes LOL< but i love 'em. Anyway, these outtakes are better then most of her album, which i think was misunderstand by prince fans. Carmen's audience was not meant to be the same as the people who loved "sign of the times" LOL. But u can love both, like me biggrin

It's funny how times change! My (high school) students were talking about Carmen Electra one day, so I asked them if they knew about her "beginnings", so to speak. Knowing that I'm a Prince fan, they immediately accused me of trying to credit everything to him. I had to bring in "proof", so I burned a CD with her album and the outtakes, and brought in the CD to show them. I even told them about how Prince was promoting her as "The Scariest Female on the Face of the Planet" in that commercial that ran on The Box. (I didn't want to show them, because it is at the end of the Sexy MF video). One student in particular flipped! He thought she was discovered on Baywatch! He ended up keeping the CD. lol

I have those songs in my iTunes library, so they shuffle thru sometimes. I still jam a little bit- not too much, tho. They're a little cheesy. wink

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

Nothing is wrong with her album. Its patchy in places, but theres some damn good pop songs on it. "Everybody get on up" is my fav. I have a boot of Prince doing a demo of that song. not as good, but interesting all the same.

"what the hell is that thing?"
"my name is carmen....."
"...she scared the cows and everything". Ha, Prince is so funny sometimes.
