It's pretty bad. I think I like the pictures on the cover and back the best. SHe looks good, but the music is pretty terrible. Under the Influence is the only listenable track IMO.

lol The only song I remember being half-way decent was "Under the Influence."

The album with "Pretty Mess" was way better (and still not that good).

I have an easier time listening to one of Latoya Jackson's CDs than this one...

SoulAlive

let's face it,guys,Vanity's solo albums are crap. The Vanity 6 was fun, silly and outrageous, but the same cannot be said about Vanity's two solo albums.'Wild Animal' is terrible.I had high hopes for her solo career, but she blew it by releasing weak material.

The song "Under The Influence" is nice, though music

Notice that the producers "buried" her vocals underneath the bassline

I'm all about this video! I love the pirate thing (I don't understand combining it with the 40ish thing...kinda sucks)! I'm kind of shocked this song isn't available anywhere. It's hot!

HeyJude

"Mechanical Emotion" and "Skin On Skin" were funky mid-tempo jams... While "Strap On" and "Ouch" were just as fun as anything on the Vanity 6 record... I rather enjoyed her solo records, at the time... Trust me, Britney and Jessica singles wont hold up twenty years from now either.

"Romantic Voyage" was alright. I haven't listened to this album in such a long time though I can't remember the other tracks. Didn't Robbie Nevil produce some of the songs on here?

I used to strip to this in club. The whole tape is so sexy. I used to love her reference to Prince and his chest; "My King Kong..." Remember when Appolonia said in Purple Rain, just before music from 'GOD' began? and then there was the kiss.... I wore that cassette out.

Wow really? I didn't realize this is where that line came from. Hmm...I guess Purple Rain (the movie) WAS really written about Prince's relationship with Vanity..err kinda. I remember reading Vanity saying that the Prince and Apples relationship was theirs and it was kinda werid seeing someone eles play her. I never realized Prince and Vanity were as close as they were.

I really like this album alot. Flows better than Wild Animal, though thats a pretty good one too. Stand outs are Under the Influence, Confidential, Manhunt, Skin on Skin, and Romantic Voyage for me.

Frick yes. It's a great album! I actually like it even better than the Vanity 6 stuff. I mean that was clever- yes, but the records after were far more MUSICAL. And by Skin on Skin she actually starts SINGING- I mean really SINGING- more.

Both Vanity's solo LP's are great records if you like the sounds of the time.

Skin On Skin is probably a little better rounded than the first album, both have a couple of mediocre tracks, but overall, they're both essential IMO.
