Odd way to sell a book.... I'm very interested to buy it, but not particularly through this method.
I wouldn't trust religious people with my money.

Well, I got a call from Evangelist Matthews tonight. I have to say I was very suprised that she actually called me. Her book is very expensive. $200. She said it's because she is publishing it herself. You can put $100 down if you want.
Anyway, we talked for quite a while and she prayed with me before we hung up. She seems pretty nice. She told me to call her again if I needed anyone to pray with me again. I told my mom about it, and she said, "Did you ask her about Prince?" Yeah, mom.

this whole thing seems surreal.Back in the 80s,I would have killed to have gotten a phone call from Vanity. Now,for some reason,I have weird feelings about this.

Very surreal. When I picked up my cell phone, I thought it would be a wrong number because it was some number that I didn't recognize. And when she asked for me, I thought for a second it was some bill collector that had somehow gotten my cell phone number. And when she said who she was, I panicked and thought about hanging up for a second. But when she kept talking, I recognized her voice from all of the recordings I've heard and knew without a doubt it was her. [Edited 10/11/06 13:26pm]

But when she kept talking, I recognized her voice from all of the recordings I've heard and knew without a doubt it was her. For the first few minutes, I was just like, "uh huh...ok...sounds good." But then we got to talking about God and His word, and it was just like I was talking to someone from my church or something. I really had to go since my husband was outside waiting for me to drop him off at the garage to pick up his truck, and I had to be somewhere in like 20 minutes, so I had to hang up with her after talking for like a half hour. But really she did make some good points in regard to faith and I'm always thankful for people when they pray with me. I couldn't resist telling my sister later when I picked her up that I was late because "I just could not get Vanity off the phone!" That's incredible! You talked to her for 30 minutes!! I'm almost tempted to order the book,if it means she will call me,lol.

Well, I didn't actually order the book. I just sent an email to her site, asking for pricing and ordering info. I was told by Pure Heart Minsitries to reply with my phone number and Ms. Matthews would call me back. [Edited 10/11/06 13:25pm]

That's pretty cool she's calling you all and chatting on the phone. I haven't been to her site in a while, but the last time I checked it out, she was using the Purple Rain font all over the place on it. Seemed kind of odd for someone who's supposedly trying to dissasociate herself with her Prince years.
With regards to the cost of the book, the costs of making it can be pretty expensive, especially if you are only doing it in a very limited run like that, and adding all of those embelishments and details she describes. I'm half tempted to order one just for the autograph and the 30 min chit chat with Vanity LOL.
