Printablei was responding to the comment of asking for proof. and said i had seen them live. my bad, i did say cracking above. during the live performance, their voice did come across cracky, but i think that was more logistics than anything, so hard to get a feel for their voice. the television performances i saw, their voice didn't crack, but it didn't "grab" me, just seemed to plain vanilla, nothing exciting about it, didn't make me want to hear it again.
they both have alot of energy, i have to give them that, especially after seeing them live. unfortunately, it takes more than energy to grab an audience and hold their attention...and that is my point of view coming from a dance background

maybe it's just me but i've noticed on these prince sites that people have a problem with all the sistas prince has worked with this year. a lot of you have said that tamar, celestina, and the twins are ugly. i don't see it and as a black woman it hurts to hear you all say these things about these women. no they don't look like sheila, appollonia, vanity, or susan. they are themselves and they can't change that nor should they. ask yourself would we want to see you on stage with prince would we think your beautiful or would we rip you apart and say you have no talent and that you look like a drag queen. i was an audience member on the tyra banks show and they talked about self esteem you'd be surprised how many beautiful women think they're ugly. how do you know that the twins or anyone one of those girls don't read what people write about them. you don't. it's been said do un to others as you want done to you. take a look at yourself and think before you just put others down. my opinion is not up for debate and i don't want an online fight. we women need to stick together and pull each other up. we all have insecurities and quirks about ourselves. if you don't like them fine but they are in the vegas show's and whatever else prince wants them to be in and all of you know when you see him in vegas if you had a chance to meet the twins you would be excited so quit fronting! | |

doesn't apply to everyone. I really liked Tamar. I loved her energy in watching her perform live, she has a beautiful voice, and I think she is very attractive. I just don't like the twins. Has nothing to do with jealosy or any other insane suggestion. I actually didn't even realize they were "sistas" until someone pointed it out to me last week. and a conversation with the twins? I have no desire to have a conversatoin with them, nor do I need to meet them. | |

I understand what you're saying, but I think you have it wrong about the Twinz. A lot of fans in the online community had issues with Tamar's looks...from the spacing of her eyes, her thickness, etc...but not Maya and Nandy. I've said it before and I'll say it again; the twins are quintessential Prince and the coolest addition he's made to his band in years and years.

You're missing the point. They don't need to talk to have personality. It's the fact that they're interesting and colourful (no, not literally) that makes them stand out.
It's a return to the days when Prince's band members functioned as fully realized characters instead of just musicians. The Twinz don't ever have to speak, because that's part of their character. They're the sexy, ambiguous twin duo attached to Prince. That's part of the appeal. It's classic Prince antics. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I still don't feel much personality oozing from the televised performances or the still shots that I've seen. Perhaps their "personality" is best felt in person? They just look like singing and dancing back-up chicks. They do a good job but nothing super special that stands out or screams "PERSONALITY" in my humble opinion. As far as this being classic Prince antics, that's exactly what I DON'T want to see anymore. The whole "non-speaking Prince flanked by two mysterious women in identical clothing" is worn out. At least the twinz aren't doing the whole "Prince says" bull of talking for him. And more than likely the only reason that he cut that out is because of the "The Prince Show" skit on SNL. Maybe he thinks if NO ONE speaks it will seem like he's doing something new and not come off as a caricature of his former self. This is coming off harsher than I mean but I can't think of kinder, more gentle words to use right now. I'm just tired of his same ol'-same ol' and I would like to see something new. Well, that's just part of the same old tired problem with Prince and his fans. No matter what he does, he can only ever please a single fraction of them.
Prince fans are like a world in and of itself, with its different nations all wanting different things. There's the pack who want something new and out of this world, and there's the ones who long for him to return to something familiar. It just goes on and on. I'm happy that Prince has returned to the days of band members who act as "characters", while you're frustrated and bored by it. That's just life as a Prince fan, I guess. The man created so many vastly different eras that we're never all in agreement on his current one. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I was just saying, this is the same problem time and time again with Prince.

and about people saying they can't sing: they don't have Tamar's voice nor do they need to have it but I heard them in Vegas this weekend and they certainly could sing there. Maybe it's cuz they actually get to sing more rather than have to dance all the time. Cuz I don't know about you all but I cannot think of any entertainer who works their a$$ off on stage dancing and is able to carry a tune at the same time without getting their voice fixed over the mic right away.
