It was a great show. This was the 2nd time that I've seen Sheila and the Escovido family within the last six months (they opened for Santana at Universal City a few months back). In any event, I was about 6 feet from Sheila's kit during the first show. As usual, she was all smiles and there was strong chemistry with her brothers and father. She closed the first set with a smooth, slower, version of G Life with a call and response with the audience. Between sets, Sheila was chatting was walking around chatting with everyone. I stopped and chatted with her before leaving (she was chatting with Sinbad at the time). Anyhow, very entertaining show.

Ususally her dad is on the timbales, right?

Ususally her dad is on the timbales, right? Sheila was behind the drum kit for most of the night. When she gave the sticks to her brother Peter Michael, she played various hand percussion including maracas, jug drums and shekeres. Yes, the father Pete, at 71, was outstanding behind the timbales all night. He said something to the effect of Sheila developing her own band, "the co-eds", he was joking about the name but not sure if he was joking about the fact that she will be starting her own band. Also, apparently Sheila has been spending quite a bit of time playing in Japan. He indicated that this is the reason that Sheila did not participate in the recording of the Escovido's new album. Just something else to add, Sheila looked great! She remains extremely fit and sexy, and appeared to thoroughly enjoy playing with her family (she was all smiles throughout the night).

COED: Chronicles of Every Diva. Sheila, Rhonda, Kat Dyson, Cassandra (O'Neal-?) -- they've played a couple of shows in the last year w/Wendy and Lisa as special guests. The was a promo photo of them on Sheila's site not too long ago. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

Apparently, she is spending most of her time on this project and they will begin performing live very soon, (per Pete Escovedo).

Yeah, clever play on words for an all-woman group. I've seen them twice -- GREAT show. Hope to see them getting out again soon. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista
