"coming up" with a beat doesn't mean she recorded it.
Sheila showed Prince a beat that he liked, and he recorded "Sexual Suicide" with his interpretation of it. Same thing could of happened with "Tambourine". "He's a musician's musician..."

Actually,...the correct wording used in Nilsen's DMSR uses Susan Rogers as the source in this quote: When he started to hang out with Sheila
and saw how she played drums, that fired him up... The rest goes on to say that the result of Sheila inspiring him was played out on the song "Tamborine." It dosen't mention that Sheila played or "came up with the beat" for the song. Intelligent people talk about ideas. -->Average people talk about things. --> Small people talk about other people.

The Vault says this about Tambourine:
"the sketchy, minimalist arrangement contains little more than Prince's energetic live drumming, percussive bass playing, and handclaps (from a drum machine)."

One thing to consider is Prince recorded Tambourine, pop life and paisley park at near enought the same time, same place; Sheila plays drums on pop life maybe he used her for all three? But then why only credit her for pop life? Maybe she was drumming in a certain way and that inspired to make it. I haven't actually heard anyone say they know that she came up with the beat. To the person who said Prince couldn't drum like that; Have you heard take me with you, for you, the 1999 album?

Perhaps he stole the beat from Sheila and recorded it himself. [Edited 9/6/06 17:46pm]

I just read in DMSR by Per Nilsen he played the drums on Tambourine. Susan Rogers is quoted as saying "When he started to hang out with Sheila E and saw how she played drums, it fired him up...He played drums on Tambourine with such exuberance. He was gleeful that day and he loved the song, was in a great mood and pounded the hell out of the drums."
So there you go...he also played drums on Sexual Suicide after Sheila showed him the beat.

It wouldn't be the first time.[Edited 9/6/06 17:46pm] Why what else has he 'stole' For the amount of material Prince has wrote and recorded on his own he is extremely original. Didn't susan rodgers say he was always trying to get tightt sounding drum beats; so he was working hard on his own creating original stuff. Now has Prince collaborated and not given credit..YES but 9/10ths of the time it's either Prince playing everything or having input to how the other members play.. e.g i need a slow rythm guitar for this part..you get the drift
