Tommy Barbarella

When did he cease working with Prince? After the Symbol Album?

And does anyone know if he went on to enjoy success with another musical project?

I'm not exactly up-to-date on ym Tommy info, but these two things I know:

1) he alays looked a little out of place on stage with Prince and the rest of the band, what with his wearing of combat boots and manskirts.

2) for some reason or other, he did keyboard for a few tracks on Backstreet Boys' last album.

That's it. shrug

I think he stopped working with Prince after the Gold Experience/Exodus period (1995).

Prince just didn't want another pretty man on that stage, so here wear a skirt and this feathered coat.

Tommy can play his ass off but with that band every finger and toe was triggering loops and effects.

He didn't just do keyboards, he orchestrated the tracks, BIG difference.

Tommy Barbarella just produced an album and provided most they keyboards for MPLS artist "The Rule" The album is AWESOME!!

Also includes a lot of input from Michael B, Sonny T and Mike Scott.

Rule website http://www.therulemusic.com/
Rule Myspace http://www.myspace.com/therulemusic music samples there as well wink

The Rule currently play every Tuesday night at Bunkers in Minneapolis and this fall they will be opening for Cyndi Lauper.

Tommy also has an official website - http://www.tommybarbarella.com/ he's been doing a lot of production work, primarly for film and commercials and offers virtual recording sessions if u want Tommy for you next project..lol. Enjoy!

And please do check out The Rule.. they are absolutely amazing. I may post over on the Michael Bland post, so he can give u more info on them.

He is a pretty man. He looks much better with the shorter hair. He seems like a nice guy. His playing never bothered me, but his look was annoying. Maybe he and Prince parted ways when Tommy no longer allowed P to dress him. lol

He was initially a member of Greazy Meal, and all of their four discs are quite good:

Well worth the money. The lead singer is great and most of their tunes have a "minneapolis sound" to them. I bought their first disc in 1996 or 1997, found that Tommy's e-mail was on their site, so for fun I e-mailed him. He actually wrote me back, was very nice, and I unexpectedly got their second album sent to me in the mail for FREE. So, I've naturally bought their subsequent two discs and they're very good.
