If youre in the UK theres a good mail order company that does all things Prince - and I mean all things - called Madhouse Music, they have everything, bootlegs to random artists albums with a Prince cover on it. They will definitely have both, and for only about £10-15 if I remember. I bought the family on vinyl for £20...
Just google them, or come to the Manchester meet up a week tommorrow as theyll have a stall in the club! EDIT - okaaaay I take it all back, I was just on the site and the CD is £125!! They gave me the vinyl for £20, whats up with that?! Id rather have the vinyl [Edited 9/1/06 7:43am] I can't beleive Adrian charged you £20 for the vinyl, I hope it was sealed and not corner cut for that price You mean to say you could get it cheaper?! And yes, perfect condition

The Mazarati album is EXCELLENT.It's a tasty mix of hard Minneapolis funk and rock.Very funky throughout.Songs like "She's Just That Kinda Lady","100 MPH" and "Stroke" are superb, and there's also a couple of nice slower tracks,"Lonely Girl On Bourbon Street" and "I Guess It's All Over". The Family album is okay, but I'm not that crazy about it.The best songs are "High Fashion","The Screams Of Passion" and the wonderful "River Run Dry".The remaining songs are mediocre, imo.

Just to get back to the original question.... I would say that the Family album is the 1st related artists alubm to get once you already own the 1st 3 Albums by the TIme and Sheila's debut.
After the Family, I"d say get Jill Jones, Sheila's 2nd and 3rd albums, and Mazerati.

If you like FUNK, get that Mazarati. Before Sheila, before the Family and before Jill. Even before the third Time album. , I said it!

Not before Sheila's Glamorous Life. The title cut, Oliver's Hosue and Shortberry Strawcake are pure funk!

Not before Sheila's Glamorous Life. The title cut, Oliver's Hosue and Shortberry Strawcake are pure funk! Sorry, I gotta disagree. Shortberry Strawcake is strong and Oliver's House is "Prince funk" but the Mazarati CD is consistantly funky. Stroke, Suzy, Player's Ball, 100 mph, She's Just That Kind Of Lady...nah, man. Its the "M" all the way as far as funk is concerned.

A song like "Stroke" kills anything on Sheila and The Family's albums! That's pure, hardcore funk.

I prefer Mazarati's album over the Time's 'Ice Cream Castles' album, which never really impressed me that much.I've said it before and I'll say it again: the only essential,must-have Time albums are the first two.

I've been monitoring ebay prices for the Paisley Park CDs for awhile now. Expect to pay between $50-$75 for Jill Jones, around $100 for The Family and around $300 for Mazarati.

I listened to it bakcin the 80s, and once in a while now, but I could listen to Sheila's 1st album over, and over, and over again and never get tired of it.

The strings on Purple Rain were done by Novi Novog and possibly written by W&L (or that might just be Raspberry Beret that W&L did) omg. i never knew that. that never even struck my mind. i feel so stupid... rock on with your bad self
