Prince never had anything to do (writing/producing/playing, etc...) with any Ready For the World albums/songs/recordings except for his heavy influence on them. To me, their first album sounds like they listened to the Purple Rain soundtrack then immediately went into the studio and recorder the album. I remember hearing a Sheila E. interview on a local radio station way back when "Oh Sheila" first came out and she said she first heard the song while riding in the back of a limousine with Prince. She says she asked Prince when did he record that song and Prince said he didn't . However I must admit that the first three Ready for the World albums (RFTW, Long Time Coming, Ruff N' Ready) are some of my guilty pleasures. I love those albums! "Always blessings, never losses......"

[Edited 8/16/06 20:29pm] Prince created the perfect sound. I know he's much more than just the Minneapolis sound but I love this style more than anything else he's created.

I too was/am a big fan of the RFTW slow jams. Melvin Riley could create a mood. Love You Down, Gently, In My Room, Here I Am, Late Saturday Night ...all take me back!
