I don't think we do.We would have to ask her if she thinks she's successful. Let's look at like this. In a span of at least a year and a half she: -received a personal invitation to be mentored by a music icon -performed with Prince on the NAACP Image Award Show, the Brit Awards, the BET Awards, SNL and GMA(solo performance) -became a member of the NPG -had her mentor help her get a record deal with Universal -co-wrote her entire album with Prince -sung on half the songs on 3121 -headlined her own mini-tour -co-headlined the 2 LV concerts -performed at P's mansion and mingled w/celebs -2 singles released to radio -an interview clip on MTV and mtv.com All that without an album. It's possible that she may view all of the above as a success. There are plenty of talented people that will never have the opportunity to do what she has done...so even if her album isn't released, she should be proud of what she has accomplished. [Edited 7/30/06 11:19am] If you take it back another year or so, you could staple these achievements to her resume as well. - She is the 2004 NAACP Nominee in the category for Best Lead Female Actress . -Besides singing with ANGAZA, she has been the featured vocalist on Lee Ritenour's "Twist of Motown" tour. -She has also performed with Gerald Albright and Phil Perry at 94.7 The Wave jazz concerts. -As a background vocalist she has performed with Celine Dion, Yolanda Adams, Rev. Donnie McClurkin and CeCe Winans, to name a few. -Ashley is also an accomplished actress and has performed in numerous plays, musicals, on television and in motion pictures.

not headlines I agree sacredwarrior, but were talkin about commercial success. I know it doesnt hold much weight in the grand scheme of things. I dont think anyone knows Tamar well enough to gauge her success in that aspect. So they headlines are a goodway to start. I also wanna add that I think she had a better year financially (made more $) than some of the new artists that debut in 2006.

Wendy & Lisa were not successful because they went wood with their releases, someone would have their panties in a twist trying to convince folks otherwise based on session work and classical training...

Well, FOR THOSE WHO APPRECIATE HER TALENTS AND SONGS, let's help make her a success. In another thread there are a list of radiostations to call for her "Sunday in the Park" song. Let's show Tamar some love!.

I would have to be able to say I could stand alone on my own 2 feet to feel like a success. I'm not saying Tamar can't or won't be successful just what I've seen so far is no such indicator.

No one on this planet has done anything successful "on their own" everybody gets help and everybody needs help. I would be proud of myself if the greatest musician of our time wanted to mentor me, how would you feel? Thats like getting accecpted to an ivy league school. You dont get accecpted to Yale or Havard based on pretty looks...an atending an ivy league shcool is a good indicator of success, but like with anything else nothing is promised.
