Sheena Easton - Cool Love

Does anyone remember this Prince-produced track from Sheena's 1988 album, "The Lover In Me?"

I picked up the CD a few weeks ago. I had it on cassette when it was originally released, but hadn't listened to it in YEARS.

I forgot how much I liked Cool Love. It's so fun and free. Also, something goes on with the music around the 2:45 mark that is actually quite lovely. smile

There were a couple of other nice tunes on this CD as well, though most of them sound a bit dated.

cool song..though 101 is the killer
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Yeah I love it. I was listening to this on my ipod at the gym today! Funny you brought it up..no one really talks about this song. I really like '101" her other song produced by Prince on that album...but I love the title track too. It's so happy and upbeat and eighties. I miss eighties music. It was so cute and fun...but it also had this innocence to it. Now pop songs are too explicit sometimes and just way to obvious...I kinda miss when people actually sung about a man or woman they really liked and felt feelings for. Now it seems pop songs are really not as interesting to listen to.

LOVE THIS SONG!! It's so breezy, sexy and fun.Gotta love the lyrics...

pardon me boy,did you say that you were leaving?
I hope this reason's better than the one you gave before...

didn't I drive you crazy on the nights when we made love
didn't I make your stomach pound
knock you out in every round
wasn't it good to you, babe, wasn't it good?

I always thought this would have made an excellent single music

I agree with you. Today's music is so bland and superficial. When I listen to my collection from the 70s and 80s I get the sense that people had a deeper sense of themselves and their emotions. They explored the depths of relationships, life, etc. It came across in the lyrics - the use of simile, methaphor, etc. It also came across in the music itself - they played the way they felt. When comparing the best of the mainstream 70s and 80s with the best of the maintstream 90s and now you see just how shallow today's music is.

Yes. Shallow is the perfect word for it. It is like no one actually feels anything anymore..it's all like they are trying to sell me an image in their songs or something.

"No deposit no return" sounds like a classic strip song. I love that track!
