Dr. Fink: Replaced or Retired I don't come on this part of the site alot so I do not know if tis has been posted b4 but, I was just wondering did Prince get rid of Dr. Fink or did he leave. I would not understand getting rid of him becuase he is a very exceptional Keyboardist. Does n-e-1 have any info on this?

I think just Prince wanted to go with a new sound
in 1991.Dr. Fink is the musician that stayed the longest with him tho. From 1978-1990. I think Dr.Fink is a genious and he's by far my favourite keyboardplayer that ever played with Prince. /peace Manki

From the Doctor himself at the first Prince: A Celebration 2000, "Prince wanted to go a new direction with his music."
Dr. Fink is my favorite Prince band member. When I first saw Prince in concert on November 19, 1982, Dr. Fink came onto the stage and started throwing fruit into the audience. I was on the front row and caught an orange. I think I still have the orange (I'll have to check, but the last time I looked it was dried up to nothingness). Our meeting was so interesting. I remember walking into the soundstage of Paisley and Dr. Fink was leaning against the door talking to his wife about to take a drink from a bottle. I ran up to him and screamed, "Dr. Fink!" He looked at me like a crazed fan and shook my hand. "You're the reason I play a keyboard," I said. "What band do you play with?" He asked. "I don't. But, you were my inspiration to learn. I love what you do on my favorite Prince song, 'Let's Work'. I also still have the orange you threw into the audience during the 1999 Tour." Fink laughed at that and went into the story how Prince had him to go throw fruit into the audience when he was running late. Fink's musical contribution to Prince's work is legendary. When "The Revolution" joined Prince on stage at the Northrop venue (he had them come up one at a time) the "true old schoolers" went wild. When Fink took the stage, Prince said, "Dr. Fink. And he's shapely too." Then Prince told Morris Hayes to stay on the stage because Fink likes the spotlight. Fink rocked the house!
