Scream's Of Passion. That was a kick Ass Song with the cool video , so sexy and the Screaming by St. Paul. The Family was a Great venture by Prince and certainly one of the better spin-offs Prince created besides Vanity6 and Jill Jones.

Damn...both of them...but If I really had to choose...I'd go with THE FAMILY "The Screams of Passion" was played to DEATH back in the day!! smile

Still..one of the best albums to come out of the Paisley Camp back then...

Prince did almost everything on the Family album.
I talked to Susanna, Jerome, and Jellybean (members of the Family) firsthand, in person.

It's almost impossible to answer that question. There's so much nostalgia associated with both of those songs. I think "Girl" by the Time was pretty much exclusive to the Soul/R&B crowd and received a lot of airplay on R&B stations and in the clubs. But I'm almost willing to bet that if you didn't listen to R&B radio back in the day, you probably didn't even know that song existed. "Screams of Passion" though, I think had a little bit more cross-over appeal. Not only that, but by the time The Family came out, Prince was already established and he was in his golden era where anything he touched was treated like gold by the industry. But when The Time first came out, they were very "grass-roots", almost underground and Prince and The Time both denied any of Prince's involvement in the band. But I digress...

As much as I love "Girl" by the Time, it's one of those unique Prince ballads that you really can't play very often because it's so emotional that it almost hurts to listen to it. "Screams of Passion" though is a song you can bump any time. So if those were my only two choices, I would vote for "Screams.."

If only one of the two songs were ever released, I'd prefer to have "Girl" by The Time (Morris & Prince). I dig the serious romantic types.

The Screams of Passion for the total Paisley Park vibe from back in the day.

The vocals on 'Girl' are just plain embarrassing.

It's 'The Screams Of Passion' all the way for me. The production is top-notch, the strings and arrangement are lush and, overall, it's such a classy song that I cannot see how 'Girl' can possibly compete against it.

'Girl' made me cry too, although not in the same "wonderful" and "emotional" way it made you cry, CandyEyce...

(damn, I hit the "send" button too quickly..)

"Girl" is a good song, but during the chorus it seems like Morris is RIGHT at his vocal limit..
(this is probably 1 of the songs that Prince "helped" on)

"Screams" is a much more sensual, seductive song.. definitely 1 of my all-time favorites. Very good vocal harmony by St. Paul & Susannah, as well as the great orchestration by Clare Fisher
