I have both. I only have it on cassette though. I think I found them at a used Record store. Some of the songs are kinda good like "Samuelle" "Romantic Voyage" and "Skin on Skin" but some of it is...uggh..eighties. Not like good eighties just like bad, bad, cringe worthy eighties songs.
But I love Vanity so...you know..whatever!

OH yeah and does anyone remember "Faraway eyes"? I love that song. I remember seeing Action Jackson on TV a long time ago and I just thought Vanity was....I don't know...like one of the most beautiful women in the world. Plus she is charasmatic and has alot of personality. I think that is why people were so attracted to her. Not only is she beautiful but there was something going on inside too...some kind of inner beauty that just transended the physical.

I liked "Undress Me", too. Jesse Johnson produced those tracks.

Vanity had the right combination of looks and charm that 98% of todays artists lack. I'm trying to think of an artist that has that nowadays and no one comes to mind. That type of sexiness is almost nonexistent it the music biz these days. Pussycat Dolls to a much lesser extent, maybe? That's as close as I can think of off the top of my head. Most of the attractive female artists today are so busy attention whoreing that they lack the ablity to be charming.

Well said. That is exactly it. Vanity was just a naturaly sexy person...all these other women..it is like "manufactured" sexiness. It just isn't geninuine..that is why the public gets bored of them quickly. I saw a tape of Vanity singing "Undress" from the eighties and she was just singing to the guys and they looked so into it..like they were blushing hardcore and she didn't even do anything lewd...she just has it..she was charming, she knew how to flirt..men just melted around her.

I love Mechanical Emotion! But my favs are Nasty Gurl and Under the Influence. When I see her movies and her performances, sometimes it's hard for me to believe that she didn't like being Vanity. I mean, she had that "it". No one has come even close to her.

I remember going to see the movie "Last Dragon" with some High School buddies. When Vanity sung the song "7th Heaven" We all burst out laughing when she hit the high notes. It was so off key

If so, Where on earth did you find 'em! I really would like to get both on CD with out going broke, if possible but I'm having nothing but trouble finding them I bought both Vanity albums on vinyl (and all the 12" singles) when they were first released in the 80s. Vanity's albums have never been released on CD. Any CD you do find was made by someone independent of Motown. Now if you have a turntable, this is what you should be looking for: Wild Animal LP Pretty Mess/Mechanical Emotion 12" (extended versions) The Last Dragon soundtrack LP/CD (features one Vanity track "7th Heaven") Skin On Skin LP Under The Influence 12" (extended remix versions) Animals 12" (extended version) Action Jackson soundtrack LP/CD (features "Undress" and "Faraway Eyes" by Vanity and "Shotgun" by David Koz and Vanity, but in all honesty, I can barely hear Vanity's vocals on this track) Undress 12" (extended version) As far as I know, that's Vanity's entire solo career right there. I've seen a 12" called "I Want To Be Your Bodyguard" floating around, but that might be by a different Vanity. I've never heard it.

Thanks everybody!!
I've been checking most of the major local record storers in my city.No Vanity so far, but I did manage to find Sign O' the Times single on vinyl. I'm gonna keep hunting the shops cause I didn't really want to resort to Ebay. But I gotta find those albums, cause I love the songs I've heard from them Sidenote: I found Apollonia 6 on cassette at the Goodwill [Edited 6/30/06 22:24pm] If you will, so will I
