mm, my stick
I just love my stick mm, my stick I JUST LOVE MY STICK is there really any question between these 2? Mutiny is a good, rather funky song- thanks mostly to Eric Leed's sax playing.. but THE STICK just might be the sparsest, most subdued funk jam ever! It's a song that sort of hits you in waves: Morris' low-key phrasing; the alternating lead & rhythm guitar riffs; the almost invisible (but still present) bassline, which finally comes to life in the last 2 minutes of the song; the augmenting synth lines, lurking in the background.. the aforementioned piano solo; that NASTY guitar break in the middle of the song, punctuated by those 2 sudden, spastic, "oh ho"s; that "getalittlesatisfaction.. work the stick in my ride" refrain that drills itself into your subconciousness".. what I also like about this song is its length (yes, sometimes size DOES matter) this song is long enough for you to get into it.. as "subtle" as this funk jam is, it still manages to build up to a "semi-climax" before getting back down to its funky base.. definitely 1 of the best Time songs ever. I'll see you tonight..
